Default ('11+) 2013 Impreza 5 Door Premium 2.0i

Hey everyone, I just got my 2013 Impreza 5 door Premium, and I have been doing some simple upgrading to make the car look a bit cleaner.
I live in the bay area so there's basically no weather here, and I never go off road except for some dirt trails every once in awhile but their smooth, just some gravel on dirt.

So far I removed all the emblems on the rear.
I used a heat gun, fishing line, dish soap, and some wax afterwards.
I didn't really much care for those especially the pzev one. It was pretty easy to do just got a blister from rubbing off the tape.

Then I went and got the windows tinted which cost me $220. I got one shade before the darkest.
Now the auto dim mirror has become annoying at night as it dims I can barely see anything behind me. I turn it off but it turns on everytime I start the car.

Then I ordered some LED's for the interior $30. The map, dome, storage, and license plate from iJDMToy. The LED's are darker than the stock bulbs, they should have brighter ones available. I just ordered the kit they had for the Subaru wagon. For me I like it darker because I usually never had the lights on inside anyway, now I do. I do wish the storage one was brighter though because it is pretty dark back there at night.

Alright I decided to look at my license plate LED's yesterday night and they were both out. I popped them off and only one would come on flickering for a bit and then go out again. only three of the LED's of that one would come on and flicker. I tried bending the metals to make sure they are touching the harness and still nothing so I had to pop the stock bulbs back in.

I ordered new LEDs from this guy
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2522943

They are much better, brighter, and have not burned out like the iJdmToy ones did, and the price is better too for a much better product.

I also ordered some parts for the interior which I think are pretty cool.
The All weather floor mats are nice, really thick and seem very durable. A bit pricey but usually they can hold their value when they get discontinued.
The rear seat protectors so in case I need to load anything or if my dog gets to come along. Pretty easy to install just pull out the pins on the cloth back, poke two holes with a screw driver through the cloth so the new pins for the rubber back can hold on. The rubber is flexible like the bottom piece that came with my car. I thought it was going to be hard rubber, but it seems good.
I also went ahead and bought the Subaru sunshade. The quality is really nice, its thick and comes in a leather-like pouch. It folds easy and slides in the pouch for storage. Hopefully it can protect the dash from the sun for years to come.

Now I'm waiting on some H&R springs I ordered through a local shop which should drop it about an inch and a half along with a bit of an improvement in handling. $600 parts and labor.
Hopefully it all comes out great so the turns will be even better.

I also asked them to powder coat my stock premium wheels to a black semi gloss and paint the calipers red while its at the shop.

I ordered some tint for the rear turn signals/reverse lights off of eBay, but I think Iím just going to ask them to do it while its at the shop. The previous tint shop didn't want to do it because its plastic.

Let me know what you guys think and some ideas for some more upgrades.
I'm thinking of getting the mesh grill, The rear spoiler, and the fog light kit.

I installed some hood shocks that hold the hood up for me real easy for when I clean out the engine area.
I ordered them from Ebay from a local seller and after one broken damper, grinding down the bracket, and adding washers I made them work and they hold the hood up great.
The hood mounts are apparently different from previous models.

I received my fog lights and tinted them yellow with the vinyl from JDM Fanatics, I set up all the interior things(button, relay) for the fogs but haven't installed them yet.
http://www.jdmfanaticvinyls.com/

My HID kit came in from The Retrofit Source so now I need to start baking and try to do what JDMSTA has done so well.
http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/show...mp-Blazers-Fog

My new Sport Mesh Grill has been sitting in my room and I plan to do the HID's, fogs and the grill at the same time so I won't have to take everything apart more than once.

I ordered the Hella Supertone horns and will be installing them this weekend hopefully.

The springs I ended up going with are Teins and should be here in a few days.

I canceled painting the wheels and taking everyones advice to just save up for some new ones later on.

My plates came in already so now I need to think about mounting them.
The dealer drilled some holes on the bumper to put their dealer plate so that set me off from getting a relocator plate kit.
I went ahead and got the C&C Carworx mount seems a bit nicer than just screwing it in the bumper, also ordered the fumoto drain valve now that its close to oil change time.

After these few quick installs I'm sure I will be happy for quite some time while I pay for the car and take it out for some nice rides.

EDIT:

I went ahead and installed the fog lights last night.

I painted the chrome bezel piece black and noticed theres a gap between the lamp and the plastic cover so now you can see the yellow vinyl where it stops.
I think I'm going to end up painting them with the yellow tint paint now instead of vinyl.

I managed to install the sport mesh grill, way easier than I thought it would be. Just have to take off a few poppets and 4 screws and it pretty much comes off.

I should be able to take off the headlights tonight and bake them, install the retrofit and seal them for install tomorrow along with the hella horns.

So after three days I finished, Friday removed the headlights and installed the horns, Saturday I spent half the day baking, dremeling, cursing, researching, test fitting, taping, and painting. Sunday I put it all together a few times then finally added the glue to it all and baked it shut. Then began the wiring and mounting and removing and remounting and adjusting.
It took a lot longer and was more frustrating then I thought it would have been, but its finally done.

Future Ideas later on down the road:

Sway bars maybe 22mm hopefully people will have done more by then and know what feels good.

Wheels some 18's(black)

UEL headers and new exhaust as they talk about on this thread.
http://www.i-club.com/forums/newbie-...-balls-250407/

A stereo, something that can use the steering wheels buttons and maybe the waze app or the torque app and display it.
so far its looking like the Alpine ICS 7

Where did you get your tints done? I live in santa cruz and got quoted $300 for llumar w/ lifetime warranty. I thought it seemed a little high.

Car looks great tho. Congrats.

Yeah it does, at first I didn't like it either, and the cvt needs some getting used to. The drive by wire is kind of scary. Not sure if it is the drive by wire or the cvt but theres a bit of a lag from when you let go the accelerator to when the car starts to slow.

Personally I would save the money and skip painting the brake calipers. It will look tacky on an impreza. When I see painted red calipers I just think of the fast and the furious fads and under glow.

Save the money on the powder coating too. A proper powder job will be over $100 per wheel. Notice I said proper, I know people will come in here saying they got theirs done for $xx and it's perfect. I would just put that towards a new set of wheels and tires to really set it off.

Lowering springs are good for lowering, that's about it. Don't expect drastic improvements in handling. If you want better handling get springs designed for it. RCE blacks and yellows are about the best there is. They do lower the car, but that is not their primary job. You want better handling for cheap, research some swaybars and endlinks.

Other than that nice start. First thing I ever do to any new car is a good window tint.

Yeah the brake caliper thing I was a bit controversial on I just really don't like that silver color maybe a dark gray would look nice and not all fast and furioused out.

I was looking at some new wheels maybe 18's? but for now I like these stock ones, just not the color.
Maybe when the tires are a bit worn I'll think of getting some new wheels, and
trade these for the steel ones as a back up.

I'll see later on down the road if I'm not happy with the handling about switching more out after I start paying this thing off a bit. For now this car handles way better than my previous car (91 accord).

Thanks for the comments, the calipers are sure to not go red now haha

get that full kit from subaru! Like the aero stuff and spoiler and such! I'd buy one if I had the money but all of it is spent on the '08.

I think subaru makes covers that are colored that should snap right onto the caliper itself, they're dirty cheap too. get the car hot waxed and there is this paint/film you can have put on by auto body/ detail shops that will keep rocks and what not from dinging up your paint job. they generally just put it on the running boards and front bumper and front half of the hood. $200, 300...

So the H&R springs are on back order now and wont be available for weeks.
Now i'm liking the RCE springs and new swaybars and endlinks idea but I can't seem to find any for this year.

I emailed RCE and they have no plans on developing springs for the 12/13 impreza but there are a few people on here and I think one person has tried say that 08 and up WRX suspension bolts on so if you get shocks and RCE springs for the wrx you can go that route

I just ordered them from Subaru Genuine Parts.
The wiring is all there in your car already you should be able to see the wires when you look through the honeycomb part.

The kit came with the new cover and the switch by the drivers side, the stock one has a solid plastic part that can't hold the fog light switch unless you cut it out.
.

The new one lets you just pop it in

PART No. 83472FJ010VH/WJ

The kit comes with the relay that goes in behind the glove box and just pops in. Bottom right gray.

The kit came with the hardware: two screws and two clips for the screws to thread in to hold the fog light.

thats basically all that you need the rest is all in there. The kit comes with a new lamp cover with the chrome piece but the one with the honey comb insert should work. The new one has a slightly bigger eyebrow I noticed.

So you just need the On Switch, Relay, and the Lamps.
The screws and clips will be very helpful.

The switch lights up red with everything else when you have the headlights on and a little fog light symbol appears on your dash when they are on like the high beam.

Another thread about it.

Thank you, and I think I do need something to keep all the dirt from running up the side off the tire but I want to get it lowered before I add something. I was thinking of the aero kit.

You have to slide them to the left, or right then pull it after it moves, their stuck on with like glue so it's hard at first

So you removed them from the outside? Here I was trying to remove the inner panel, the one that covers up the entire 5th door. Did you have trouble with the trunk led bulb. I think I may have been sent the wrong one. It's the same one as the map and dome lights. Thanks again for the quick response!

Thanks MrPistachos! Looks like I did get the wrong light. The trunk has a wedge bulb in there and I was sent a festoon bulb. Not enough room for one of those in there. Did you ever get mudflaps?
