2013 BMW X1, M6 Convertible convertible confirmed for New York Auto Show debut

Making it as official as it will ever be, BMW has just confirmed that the M6 Convertible and the BMX X1 SAV (Sport Activity Vehicle) will be making their debuts at the 2012 New York Auto Show on April 4. The two models will be joined by the BMW M6 Coupe and the BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe. Also hanging out in New York will be the i3 and i8 Concepts.

We saw the BMW M6 Coupe at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show earlier this month, but it’s now time for BMW to show off the M6 Convertible to the public. The BMW M6 Convertible is powered by a 4.4 liter V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo Technology making 560 hp at 5,750 – 7,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 500 lb-ft between 1,500 and 5,750 rpm. Mated to a 7-speed M Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic, 0 to 62 mph comes in at 4.3 for the convertible.

The BMW X1 will be coming to the United States for the first time. Sales will begin this summer with the 2.0 liter TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder being the only engine offered with the model. The engine makes 240-hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.

between m6 and gtr i would get the gtr,even though the m6 is in a different class, never understood high hp sports car that never could use a 100% of its potential and power, top gear proved it with the previous m6.. same thing with the new mustang cobra which was delayed for the same reason.
