Default Under seat sub for 2012 Sport......what fits?

After finally getting my car, I think if I am going to do a sub I need to put it under either the driver or passenger seat. I just don't see anywhere else to put it without it being in the way. 2012 Sport 5 door. Anyone have any info on under seat subs that will fit? Thanks!!!

How much room do you have available then?

If you're set on going under the seat I would build a "mock" enclosure outta cardboard as big as possible, just make sure everything clears in all seat movements/positions.

Once you have that figured you can calculate the largest amount of airspace and depth available and narrow down your sub selection from there.

I think I would like something like the earlier year Imprezas had that just bolts to the seat track. I don't need overpowering, just a little thump.

Well as far as I know nobody currently has an enclosure like this in actual production and I'm guessing the older versions wouldn't work/fit exactly in the newer 08's+ if you did locate one.

I think your only bet is to build it yourself if something is possible, some R&D on your end will be needed just to figure what is possible for what you're looking for.

I sent an email to Subaru on line parts as they show a under seat sub for previous years to see if they have any information. Maybe they have tried it with a newer model but just haven't put it together yet. The other thing I may do is a couple of good woofers in the rear door and components in the front doors and see if it will give me some decent base. I don't need a lot, just a little thump!

Unfortunately I received an email back from Subaru on line parts that they do not think their under seat sub will work with the 2012 Impreza Sport. Back to the drawing board.........

If you want a little thump, get one of these:

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_575R1L1...10.html?tp=112

and a small mono channel amp. You'll be about 1000x better off than a oem subwoofer.

Definitely not, but it's really small (i can fit 3 golf bags in the trunk with it), and if you need to pull it out, it's really light.

I might have a better idea. See my post regarding rear door woofers.

Has anyone tried to fit this one under the driver or passenger seat of a 2012 Sport Premium: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_777B8PT...PT.html?tp=114

If so, how do you like it and did you block off the under seat vents?

Going by their measurements, it should fit under the drivers seat. I have not looked under the passenger seat. I am putting an amp under my drivers seat, and if if i remember correctly, that will work. I would block off the vent.

Default Fits under my 2012 Sport Limited passenger seat and...

http://www.focal.com/en/car-audio-so...rs/ibus-20.php

Replaced all the stock speakers: 6 total with Focal IS & IC 165's, and added a Focal iBus 20 powered sub under the passenger seat, and an Alpine 45W Amp behind the stock head unit. Sounds so much better and didn't loose any storage space.

Fits great under my passenger seat. Doesn't even need to be "secured" as the seat keeps it from sliding around. PLENTY of base for the stock speakers w/an aftermarket HU (I'm running a Kenwood ddx719.

As a reccomendation..
If this fits: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_777B8PT...PT.html?tp=114

Do it (that is if underseat woofers are your only option).

Even though mine is a Wrx, this might work or you. http://www.kicker.com/hideaway. Here's mine on the seat back.

It works pretty well for just an 8 inch. It will fill in the bass and give a little drop. It lacks a subsonic filter that's probably the only fault I see.

thanks for the input, I've been trying to justify spending the extra hundred on it over the comparable sound ordnance 8" sub, so far i've been struggling to do so..

here are the two I've been lookin at, anyone have any other input or experience?

In all fairness I got it for $111 shipped. So I would've probably gone with the sound ordinance too.

I just picked up a 2013 Sport Premium and definitely need to do something about the stock sound. It's pretty bad, IMO. Out of curiosity, how much did this setup set you back ?

The kicker hideway away looks awesome! If i wanted to use the stock speakers and radio, would I need to purchase anything additional in order to complement the addition of the kicker hideaway ? I'm far from a sound engineer and don't plan on doing the work myself, but the more info the better. My first option is under the seat, since I plan on folding those back seats down often for plywood, sheetrock and a ton of other things yet to be determined.

Boogz.
