Default Legacy suspension options

Hey guys, I've got a 1997 Legacy L AWD EJ22 5-speed. I'm actually looking to purchase some coilovers, but most of the companies don't seem to make a coil for my exact model.

What other models fit my car? Or what coilover companies offer a coilover for my car?

Anything for an 02-05 Impreza (incl WRX, but not 05 STi) if you're looking at a complete coilover setup.

Okay cool, thanks. But if I buy wrx coilovers, do I need to use my legacy tophats or anything else? Or does it go straight in? It doesn't look like that was covered in the thread

What is my chassis code? Is it a bk or bg?

If it's a Legacy wagon and not an Outback, it's a BK. BG is the raised roof version - it has a little bit of a bump on the roof compared to the Legacy. In the US, the only BG was the 96-99 Outback.

You can always check your VIN to make sure. It should read something like "4S3BK4...."

The "BK" part is your chassis code.

As far as the tophats go, I believe you can use WRX ones, but someone who has actually done a GD suspension swap may want to chime in on that.

Better buy it fast before someone on here sees it. The BG5 is the legacy wagon.

idk if this will help

but the tops hats off a wrx will work. i have04 wrx struts/hats/prodrive springs on my 96 legacy ls wagon

also the 96 legacy struts/hats will fit on a 98 forester and vis versa

everything swapped fine nothing had to be messed with other than where the brake lines mount to the struts i had to cut them off and ziptie them to the wrx struts

I have Tein coilvers from WRX wagon. Top hats meant for a GC8 corrected the angle for my Teins.

Previously the slotted adjustment on the coilovers were canted about 45 degrees, so you really couldn't adjust it.
