Default BRZ ordered - wanna pull it apart?

Hey all..
I've got one of 11 BRZ's coming to my state locked-in the very first month of production. I wanted to toss a business idea out there...

Would everyone be interested in paying $10 each to sponsor video/pics/documentation of the new BRZ being disassembled?
... if I get enough takers I'll do it.

Imagine.. knowing every detail of this thing BEFORE the dealer lots get populated... BEFORE you buy it, plan upgrades way in advance.
Anyone?

For what purpose do you want to tear apart a new BR-Z, reverse engineer it and sale what you know to China. LOL If you can dismantle it and a produce or make improvements then have at it. You'll be on your way to a successful future and make an name for yourself in aftermarket entrepreneurship. Will $10.00 give me intellectual rights? Your just gonna make some DIY vids for dismantling a BRZ for upgrades when they become available. Go for it, if it helps me I'll pay up others should too.

TBH, its a short matter of time before someone does this for free I'm sure. Someone out there is going to build a sponsored car.

Its just a thought. If I get enough initial interest on the forums i'd launch a kickstarter project. (individuals would commit their $10, but don't actually get charged until enough participants signup to make the thing worthwhile.)

I know the information will eventually be available and consumable, I'm just trying to fast track it.

It isn't a particularly complex car. What kinds of things are you hoping to discover while dismantling it that another prospective dismantler (ie: someone already willing to do that kind of work) wouldn't already be familiar with?

So, I know this is kind of a new idea. Maybe a good one, maybe not. I just know there are always a million questions that go out to the guys that manage to reserve a car early and why not just have one person with one car that is the guinea pig that everyone can go too. (what do the stock wheels/tires weigh together?) it says 5 1/4 door speakers but could 6.5" fit? (fictional example only) etc. etc..

Not everything is in the books. But OK,. if its a dumb idea then its dumb. :/

I don't think it's a dumb idea.. but you need to have a plan and some goals to reach before you're going to get $10 from anyone.

They aren't all that rare/difficult to acquire. A lot of the Subaru shops have already bought them. I believe RaceComp mentioned having purchased at least 1 already.

Doesn't make much sense unless you're going to do something with it while it's apart.

They only started production two weeks ago. The tuning companies were probably loaned some of the well-beat-on pre-production press cars so that they could build up the aftermarket to coincide with launch.

They didn't pre-order cars and get them already.

[Edit]yep.. notice the manufacturer plates on RaceComp's car.. it probably doesn't have VINs.[/edit]

Are you sure they didn't?

From Myles' post on facebook:

Either Subaru didnt update the order notification system, or my BRZ will be AWD, in which case it will be MUCH slower !

Myles @ RCE preordered one as a regular customer, it's not the white one in the pictures on Facebook. That's a SOA car. He's doing a lengthy write-up about the whole thing which should be up today.

I suspect the link at the bottom will be working before your car arrives and you'd be a lot better off if you could assemble a handful of people who'd kick in $7 each for a 3-day subscription and help you download all the little .pdf files involved.

All good points. I have had more offers just to come watch vs. pics/vids/docs/stl's. I guess folks just want to put their hands on the real thing.
... which...
gives me a much more exciting and EVIL idea.

You're gonna turn your BRZ out arent you? Pimp that bi+ch like a dirty little skank from the gutter. I cant believe you and some strangers plan on gang raping a highly engineered new car. Oh well I guess when cars come from a split family like Toyota and Subaru they just like that kind of treatment. Just use protection so she wont get ant STD's. However a little STi up in it will probally feel good.
