It's nothing unusual. A slower moving air charge has more time to soak up heat from the engine bay. That changes once you start moving.

I'm not going to miss that last 0.8 horsepower.

In this car no, I don't really care. If it was an intercooled wrx maybe

the engine is so quiet as is, i don't know if i really want to put a sound deadener under the hood.

I notice a lot of intake noise on my car. Many reviews I've read have mentioned engine noise as an issue.

The idle is very smooth and quiet, but under revs or load, it gets loud.

This is also a thermal barrier, so it should get both jobs done.

Above 3500rpm it is loud I agree with that. I have issues driving this car in town with the stereo up as I can't hear or really feel when I should be shifting.

Let me know how it goes, I might still be interested
