Default FA20 with upgraded exhaust video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=HWcHJ_nr2Zs

GT-86 Video gives us a good idea of what the little boxer will sound like with an easy-breathing exhaust.

I wonder if TRD and SPT performance upgrades for this chassis will be the EXACTLY same?

The sound is definitely one of the most disappointing aspects of this car. It would be a completely different story if they's chosen to build a 2.5L flat six for it instead. Oh well.

I did like that this exhaust had a mild volume level (not like a riced out civic) but the quad tips is just ridiculous. I'm looking forward to the first semi-quiet lightweight single exit exhaust for the BRZ/FR-S.

If with/without tests show the stock exhaust system isn't compromising power I think it will then come down to weight. I've had enough "SPT-like" exhausts for a while. It's appropriate for this STi... but I want something much more subtle for my BRZ. A titanium option would be nice, as long as it didn't rice it out.

I like the idea of a nice centralized muffler where the resonator is, and then two small resonators at the tips. For me it will come down to the sound then the weight.

Waiting on aftermarket parts probably won't be so bad with BRZ. Based on all the reviews I believe everyone is going to just enjoy the BRZ from day one. Seems like such a rewarding car. Hopefully aftermarket development will excel, so we will all benefit.

Subaru has been loaning pre-production cars to aftermarket tuners for a while now. The only things on the Cusco list that aren't straight from the WRX/STI list are the strut tower to firewall braces, the LCA bushing braces and the front struts in the coilover kits.

That there are going to be lots of aftermarket parts on the market when the BRZ launches.. and that you shouldn't waste your money on Cusco's crap.

Although I have limited experience with Cusco's product, I found their products to be top-notch... actually, too top-notch for me as a rule. Many are designed for applications too hardcore for me, too expensive for what I need, but well designed engineering nevertheless.

Examples of sources offering functional equivalents would be good. Obviously there is going to be lots of aftermarket parts, since they're already emerging.

IMO, the BRZ isn't like buying a WRX, for example, where you already have a "list" of upgrades necessary to bring the car up to an acceptable standard. The BRZ comes from the factory in fighting fitness. The AM parts will mostly come later for most, after they have come to know the car better, and want to enhance appropriately rather than just gild the lily.

I'm pretty sure the quad tip exhaust in the video is just a simple cat-back OEM style replacement with mufflers. Don't listen to that and think "this is what an aftermarket exhaust will sound like" because it won't.

I'm going to laugh if I see people posting to complain that their aftermarket exhausts lost them 5-10whp.

Still really sad that it doesn't have that same boxer "thrum" I've grown used to. Still able to recognize if there's another WRX/STI around just by the sound. I guess my ears will just have to readjust.

I'm just waiting for the first person to put ITB's on a BRZ. That will sound awesome.
