Default How to care for soft touch dashes?

I'm used to the old school of hard plastic and armor all. What is recommended to clean the dash in the new Imprezas?

What sort of finish are you trying to achieve (shine). I would suggest Megiuars Quick Interior Detailer coupled with microfiber towels. Megs QID will perform light cleaning while leaving a factory (matte) finish. Also, it can be had locally and is rather affordable.

Possibly add some ultimate protectant if you desire shine. I tested it out before it was in spray form. I personally am not a fan of shiny, however this was not to terrible. The longevity is excellent, the interesting thing was that water would bead and slide right off. Perhaps megs included their hydrophobic properties in this dressing as well. I have not done sufficient research on the product.

Also there was a thread on this same topic about a month ago, you may find more information there.

I'm looking for a matte finish, basic cleaning and protecting. I have Meguires dash foam which i like for the finish, I'm not into seeing my dash reflected in my windshield.

I just wasn't sure if there was special care instructions for soft touch materials.

I'm with you on that

As far as I am aware, there isn't much difference in care. If you have a system that works use it, I have used the same method for both (not Subaru mind you) and have seen no ill effects.

Perhaps Kean or one of the other guys will weigh in later.

No problem

As am I and yes, yes it does.

We don't usually blast people for not searching in here anyway. We have a pretty helpful group. And with car care, mostly every situation is different regardless of its similarity.

Im not familiar with the new interior materials in todays Subarus but I would say the QID Aspen recommended would be a safe bet. I buy it by the gallon myself (sold under Meguiars "Detailer" line) and it works on just about every surface I've used it on. ....no added sheen or residue to speak of. When in doubt however, testing on a small area is always a good idea.

My wifes '08 Forester has dimpled "soft" material that surrounds the base of the dash and the base of the windows on the side doors. It works just fine on that surface as well.

....and yeah, this mobile app sucks.

on on my 08 sti, i wanted a matte finish that wasn't greasy or shiny, i used Wolfgang vinyl & rubber protectant. really loved it! gives uv protection etc without the nasty shine/greasy feeling.it is however quite pricey at $20 a bottle..
