Weird CEL & Traction Control notification

Hey all,

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide.

I have a BONE STOCK 2012 STi with almost 3,000 miles on it. Yesterday I was following a semi up an on ramp, and was in 2nd gear for a while sitting at about 5,000 RPM. I made normal shifts from 3rd to 4th and when we got on the freeway I zipped around the semi at WOT (in 4th) almost immediately the CEL started blinking and the traction control light went off. It blinked for just a couple of seconds and then went away.

Does anybody have any idea what happened? Would a code be stored that I could pull?

And please, only say things like "you blew a ringland", "your engine is shot", "you better get a full compression and leak down test done", "If you had a Cobb AP you would not have this happen" or other such thoughts ONLY if you really think they are valid.

Of course, I will get flamed for even asking for that, but hopefully somebody has an idea of what might have happened.

hmmm...see if you can pull a code out of it. I had a similar situation where I went wot in 5th on the highway. My car is not stock though and my check engine light stayed on and the car stayed in sport mode. I was making too much boost. I doubt that is any help, I am just rambling on this morning.

Flashing CEL is a real-time misfire. If the light did not remain on steady there may not be a code stored.
Since it's a new 2012 you should have a dealer look at it.
