Crap part is, my car problems had nothing to do with the devil tune or ringlands. And IF I had tuned this car, I would have been out $4600.00 yesterday and the √ENG LIGHT would have still come on 2 miles later. Remember everyone my gripe isn't with the tune, its with Subaru pumping out poor qaulity. This is the only problem I have ever opened a thread on since 2004. I have been a good customer and shut up and dealt with the BS. This just sucks. More as the story continues. Thank you all for your feedback and info. No matter what I can't lose. The dealer fixes this thing and I'm good long enough to use up the remainder of the warranty. Or it craps out again. In which case Subaru will have no other choice than to help a 3 time loser like me. So drink up, f this... !

Quality is all relative. How many times have you heard of this situation happening before?

Shouldn't it not be an issue in the first place?

I've looked at the tunes with ROM Raider. The STi tune is more aggressive than the WRX.

...you could have bought a premium priced Ford Taurus, SHO only to have the cams come loose from their drive sprockets turning the motor into a useless hunk of metal, all the while Ford told you, personally, "there have been no other reported cam failures", which you knew for fact was a lie, then goes on to deny most owners any warranty work.

now that SHO story is an oldie. Most smart owners actually would weld the sprockets to the cam.

I work for Hertz, last I knew there was still a 66 in the lobby at corporate head quarters. Customers were know to steal those engines and return the car with a stock motor

Never pulled up the carpet in the back? Many of those cars had roll bars installed for NHA events.

It was all before my time...

That's what I'll be doing as well, and maybe even a safe protune Stage 1 in the future...loaded from my Cobb AP.

But I also know I will be taking a chance being denied warranty work if I pop a motor...even if it wasn't from abuse.

Just saying...I had bad experiences with my Ford SHO, not only spinning a cam sprocket but spending more time in the dealers repair bay than it did in my own driveway. Most owners knew nothing of the cam issue.

After 80k miles I haven't had a single problem with the sti...other than the one/ones I created.

The dealer just called, they said Subaru is sending a tech to reflash the car with a different map. Turns out the ECU is now the NEW problem. So much of a problem that only a field tech can perform this fix , so when the dealer isn't allowed to perform the fix this ties the car up at least 3 more days. What a mess. I called Subaru, I want out of this car. They are going to investigate and tell me what if any options I may have for a trade assist or etc.
