Default 1/4 mile times for mods

What's up guys?

What are the typical times for a WRX with 3" turbo-back, up-pipe, K&N filter in stock airbox, Samco IC hoses, and boost controller? Everything else is stock.

I ran a 13.5@99 with a 1.86 60ft. I only want to know if I'm close to where I should be. The temp was around 85 degrees with high humidity. Boost was set ~16psi and trailing to ~14psi by redline.

Comments please.

Thanks in advance,

Dale

Well.... I did a 13.8 with only an MBC set at 15.5PSI... the filter * hoses don't help that much at all... TB & uppipe are pretty much good for .4 or so... I'm guessing you could be able to squeeze a 13.4 with a little better launch (like a high 1.7xx) Your next step is electronics; unichip / AFC. You'll be good for a flat 13 or so with some tuning.

Thanks for the reply.

I did a 13.60 without the downpipe or the hoses but the weather was 40 degrees cooler in early spring. I think my time is probably average for the mods and the heat.

Thats pretty fast for the weather. Wait till a nice cool night and that car will FLY. Put a lil race gas in it and run about 16psi. Try shifting at 6500rpm also. Seems to work for me.

Default race gas

What octane race gas do you guys recommend?

I can get 100 octane unleaded up to 116 leaded.

I'm going back to the track on October 5th, so hopefully it will be a little cooler then.

Dale

Try to get your hands on some VP Performance Unleaded.

Thats what I was using when I ran 13.5 last year.

When you guys shift @ 6500rpm do you have to shift into 4th by the end of the 1/4?

I shift at 7k rpm now and am JUST bouncing off of the rev limiter in the middle of the traps...

Aloha,
Richard...

I shift at 7k in every gear and still shift to 4th well before the finish line. When I didn't have as many mods, I could ride 3rd through the traps and shave a little time. Not anymore.

Thanks for the tip on the race gas. I will give it try next trip to the track.
