Default Toyotabaru Take 2

Hey all. I know I already have a couple build threads going but spring and summer are coming and I am a busy guy. I was the creator of the Toyota Celaru STi and unfortunetly that car was not finished but this one will be finished for sure! A freind of mine wanted to build a race car so he bought a AE86 Coupe that had been rotting away in a feild. Needless to say thats no way for it to spend its life so we put our heads together to figure out what to do to this beast. I had decided to sell my Legacy because I no longer had the time and the money to finish it this year due to the work I am doing on the ForeSTAR project so he bought a large array of parts from me to do a pretty unique swap. I think I can honestly say that there is no other AE86 like it.

He stareted by stripping it to just the shell. Then we cut off a good portion of the front end and stuck this in there..

The EZ30R... Normally found in the 1st gen Tribecca but I got this for the Legacy to finish it off, but since the Legacy is getting sold why not throw it in here instead. Other mods will include:

Low comp Pistons
Custom twin scroll turbo kit
Custom V-mount radiator/ intercooler setup
Reversed Intake Manifold
Custom Fuel delivery system
S13 independant suspension rear end
custom roll cage
custom tube front end
17x10.5 wheels on 275/40/17 tires
and a bunch of custom and kick ass parts to boot.

We are starting with the construction of the new front end and will be getting pipe and tubing for that this weekend. Rear end comes in a couple weeks so we are hoping to get a large portion of the chassis work done before the end of the month. My buddy wants to learn and is going to be doing a large portion of the work with me as his guide so progress will be made as the same time as other projects I am currently working on. This should be another good build.

Johann

Hey all. Sorry for the delay. Progress on the Forester is taking presidence as I have an opening between a couple cars to get it done.

However I did managed to get some work done for this project. Got one of the frame rails finished up.

I have the other cut I just need to weld it up. SHould have them in the car hopfully this weekend. I'd like to have the front end pretty much finished and the engine attached to the car by Sunday but that all depends on how much work my buddy (owner) wants to put in.

Hey all sorry for the delay. Been busy on Forester stuff and haven't had time to post up pics.

Finished the other rails and tacked them in.

Then put the fenders and hood back on to do the upper rails..

Upper rails tacked in...

Fabbed up a couple more pieces to tie everything in together...

The rear end is on its way should be getting that in the next week and we'll be fitting the crossmember to attach the engine/ tranny to the chassis early next week.

Kind of a silly question, but will there be enough clearance to change the spark plugs?

I get tired of your "silly" questions... Yes there is enough room if you look in the second pic the rail is below all three plug ports and there is more then enough room to get the rear coil out. In fact, I hate to edmit this but there is more room in this car then my foz... But I didn't make the rails in the foz so...

Yes. Crossmember, Rack A-Arms Hubs and a custom coilover with Subaru lower and AE86 Upper mounts. Prolly run 06-07 WRX Front Caipers to match the Nissan 2pot rears we are getting with the rear end he orderd.
