Wink Colorado's new quickest and fastest WRX.

Temp: 56F
Absolute Barometer: 23.38
Altitude: 5800ft

R/T .787
60' 1.968
330 5.543
1/8 8.476
MPH 85.87
1000 10.973
1/4 13.080
MPH 108.16

No need to point out the obvious that my trap speed is good for a mid 12. I know. This was only my second time ever at the strip.

The essentials:

VF30 @18.4psi peak for the run.
550s & Walbro pump.
PossumLink.
50-shot.

Too much other stuff to list.

Brian; affirmative. As it says in the post, I was using a 50-shot of Nitrous. I experimented with shift points and learnt some interesting things this evening about running on the bottle.

Anyway, let's not steer this into a Nitrous versus Not discussion. I don't believe the fact that I run a 50-shot is any more significant than the fact that I run a Link or a VF30.

Congrats on the quickest drag proven WRX time yet in Colorado. Yes, obviously your nitrous is just another 50hp mod but in the end that does pay off. My best traps with no NOS are at 105mph the last time out. Your 108mph is kickin'. Looks like I will be buying nitrous.

Your trap speeds on the bottle would be very impressive for sure. I picked up 10mph, although I'm not sure you would see exactly the same gains given the already high state of tune of your WRX.

Damn 12's...they keep gettin away! I saw your 13.1 run. That was pretty sweet. Byron had supposedly been here with his monster impreza running low 12's a few years ago. You're almost there, tho.

I take it you don't understand what high elevation does to a cars performance?

KOBIR:

take in mind that if he were at sea level it would be a different story. he would easily be in the mid 12 range which would mean this guy is not slow.

Thanks for the support guys. There are unique challenges at this altitude, for sure. However, I am quite confident that if Harvey or Jay had been piloting my car on that run it would have been a 12s pass. I'm still happy with it; especially the trap speed.

Bearing in mind that the highest mountain in Israel is less than 4000ft ASL, I would guess most of the drag strips there are close to sea level.

I was giving the jet car the eyeball in the staging lanes, but I left as soon as Jay finished his last run. The thing looked sick. I commented that the steel cage covering the intake must be to stop the pilot from getting dismembered by the turbine when it sucks him from his perch.

Did it go 'pop', 'bang', or 'kabooom' ?

Ya, and I was having fun with you so don't blow a head gasket.

Where'd you want me to bite you? I usually prefer to be on the receiving end, but whatever works for you.

Pace- can you share what you learned about running w/ the nitrous. I just installed a 50 shot so any advice would be great.

Pace, great times.

I guess some people don't know what high elevation does to a car.

Anyways, Pace, have you dragged w/o the Nitrous? What can you say about your experience?

Also, I thought you were selling your VF-30?

Holy smokes it was 56F?!

The fastest Stock WRX time I have seen at Bandimere speedway in Denver is 15.3 sec - so a 13.08 is like a 12.2 at sea-level

My best is a gtech time of 13.54 @ 105.7 but the speedo was reading only 102 and is pretty accurate. I would be in the 12's at sea-level I am sure, but so far the WRX's are leading the race till I get my 3" downpipe and air water IC installed (still running 2.5" with 2 cats).

Pace, I hope to see you in the 12's by next week, but would really like to see it happen without the bottle, but oh well...

I don't think I can do 12s without the bottle, nor do I really want to. My style (or lack thereof) really suits launching with Nitrous. The 50-shot knocked in excess of one full second off my E/T. My 60's alone are 0.3 seconds quicker on the bottle.

Yes, I'm selling the VF30. I'm gonna play with a VF22 over the winter, and then likely move to an SR40 if the pricing becomes a little more reasonable.
