I love the flame on the back, mine did the same thing when they were tuning it.

Shoot Rich, I bet that is good for at least 680WHP if you get tuned on COBB Plano's dyno in December.

The thought of Subaru producing a car to compete with the Miata sickens me

I think they did it to improve their gas mileage standards.

I dont always do engine builds but when I do I will do it like this. Then tow it to Cobb for the tune.

Keep in mind how absolutely crappy the stock tune is on the cars now. Compare it to how much more smoothly things run with an even off the shelf cobb tune.

Now extrapolate that to what they will do with the BRZ. They will smooth it out.

Clint,

Are you implying that Cobb can coax 200 WHP out of this sissy w just a tune?

That would be big, but damn near impossible.

All it needs is wrx swap!

And it still looks like a refreshed Celica

PS; what TRQ curve Kai? It's almost a flat line. Lol. Aaron's S2000 has more TRQ!

Nope. I'm implying that Cobb can fix that dip and jitter in the torque. Even if peak numbers did not improve one single bit smoothing out those lines with a tune that isn't so concerned about emissions numbers would make a world of difference.

Right, and Im sure a better breathing exhaust system will add to that as well.

I'm willing to bet no more than 10% gains plotted anywhere on map. Turbo cars are way more de-tuned from the factory because the systems are much more variable. Best gains are probably going to be low end of the torque curve due to emissions. Subaru has got this tweaked out from the factory, I highly doubt they designed it with the aftermarket tuner in mind. Still trying to figure out who exactly they built this car for.

Goofing around with he exhaust and intake will probably axe that torque curve even more.

Oh I am sure there are gains to be had smoothing that out and by bolting on a freer flowing exhaust, but it aint gonna be much.

Cars are tuned from the factory STRICTLY for emissions, not for absolute best performance.

I want to get excited about this car, but I just cant for some odd reason.

I bet a decent amount of track day guys and autoxers will look at both, and they aren't trying to sell a ton of them so that could easily be a decent chunk of the market.

You're right Neil. Track day and auto x guys will be looking at this car. In 5-10 years when they can buy it dirt cheap. Very few late model miatas at events. Lots of old beat to **** ones though.

I don't want a BRZ. I would spend $3000 more and get a 2+2 coupe with 415HP with a live rear axle.
