Anyone have a set of tires/wheels they could loan me for 24 hours? Anything that fits a 08 sti is needed as a heads up...

I can leave some form of deposit if you really want.

Reason being is I need my tires mounted but discount tire does not work on a car with spacers and I am rocking a 3mm in the front . Tires are in my possession and I want them on ASAP...so call me if you have a spare set please!

Thanks guys I know its late!

They say its for safety because cars with spacers "have been known to have their wheels come off" aka they didn't torque the wheels down right...

But... I paid for mount, balance, and the life time rotation because I need them mounted to the tire atleast and its all one fee to them.

Weird they put on my last set...then.wouldn't touch them when I went in for a rotation. Which means I saw this coming on this set but the pricing I get makes it worth it I guess.

That's dumb. Tell them that your spacers aren't bolt on spacers taht use cheap wheel studs. You still have OEM wheel studs, and there isn't enough of a spacer to move it past the hubcentric ring.

It is for safety.. I worked at discount for 7 years.. If you have bolt on spacers then they can do the work. If you have floating spacers they will not touch it. If they pulled the wheels off and started to change the tires THEN noticed the spacers they will finish the work because they have to. But will not work on it in the future if the spacers are still there.

The floating spacer can and will move around depending on how much rust/debree is on your hub/back of wheel.

I suggest going and buying bolt on spacers for your safety and everyone on the road with you.

Thanks but I all ready knew that info...and no thanks on the bolt ins, I run the smallest spacer possible at 3mm...its Arizona man the car doesn't have a lick of rust anywhere on it.

The car is 100% safe...if I can take my wheels off and on at home and manage to have not had my wheel come off in years, discount should too.

Some people don't like spacers or think they are safe but they have been run on this car since 08...

They seem to think aftermarket spacers with lower quality studs then OEM are okay though...makes no sense

Reese- the issue would be for the hubcentric ring. But 3mm spacers aren't enough to push the wheel past outside of the ring.

No problem at all. It's totally understandable. Discount serves thousands of cars a day. They have to put limitations on things for their own insurance policies. It's probably fair to say that the east coast weather has ruined spacers and other things for us here in the dry heat.

Glad everything is settled for you.

This. During my old Sears Auto days it was AMAZING what people did to their cars to "fit" the popular rims and/or tires of the day. And the second things went wrong the blame fell on us cuz we Know Better/Are the Experts/etc.

Today it's stretched tires and crazy camber angles to Tuck. We'd get folks trying to warranty tires for obvious camber wear ( uh NO ). The crazy angles also put major stress on hubs, studs, and lugs. Way easier, and cheaper long term, to turn them away.

I'm sure the OP's car is modded towards Go instead of Show however like mentioned it's difficult for the individual shops to determine this. Glad it was resolved!

It sure is. Last time I saw Sedona it was going around the outside of me on the bends up at Yarnell. That was before the extra rubber...
