that one is a little too fancy for me. I was thinking more like this:

http://www.lockdownsecuritycanada.ca...1_p/tv5011.htm

this guy is from the toronto subaru club, but I won't hold that against him

Bender: I agree, it is a bit pricey, and I don't know what kind of features the one that you posted has by comparison, but looking at the features and video quality of the BlackVue it seems like a good piece. Assuming we could get it for $200 apiece, it's only about $120 over what you posted. It doesn't seem like much for a piece of equipment that people seem to be happy with, and that could save you a lot of money in the future. If you buy a cheap one and it doesn't work, then you're out that much money anyways.

I'm not saying you should buy this one, I'm just saying that's my reasoning for wanting it.

I remember RCubed has a dash cam as well, but not sure what the model/price was for his? and if it was the same as this one...

Unfortunately, not the same... IIRC, his was around $400, but it looks really good. This one should be about half the price, but probably won't be as good quality. If you're interested, take a look at the first page of this thread and watch the videos to get an idea of how it is.

well, if you guy can get it for $200 or so, I am definitely in, but a quick search online and most places are asking $300 or more for a BlackVue DR400G HD. I would really be surprise if they will give a hundred bucks off even for a G/B.

Bender: I haven't looked up pricing, but the guy was saying they tend to go for $250+ on Ebay, but he might have a connection to get them cheaper. I didn't ask specifics, as I don't really want to get involved, but when I PMed him he said there wasn't enough interest on RS to really get another group buy going. Still, I think he's got a few people who are interested, so I figured I'd see if anyone on here wanted one as well... If there's ten people on RS that are interested, plus ten people on NASIOC, and maybe ten people on another forum, then we have the makings of a decent GB. Again, I don't actually know the guy and I'm not vouching for him, but if he can make it happen then hopefully a few of us can get in on this as well.

As for the model, my understanding is that it is the DR400G-HD, but I sent him another PM just to confirm... I'll post what I find out as soon as I know more.

Blandguy: I think Diggy's right, I'm pretty sure it's a cigarette lighter plug, but I'll be hardwiring mine in. I think all you need is a battery wire, ground wire, and ignition wire... Then you can wire it in to start automatically when you start the car, and shutdown when you turn off the car, but can still have power available to run it when it's parked. I haven't looked into all the details yet, but that's my understanding.

And juco, you're a bit late to the game... You're more like #8...

BTW, I got confirmation this morning that it is the DR400G-HD camera, so that's good news.

Giant thread on RFD about the BlackVue dr400g-hd if anyone is interested. Good thing is that a lot of people have this particular product, so theres lots of discussion going on about it.

seriously ive seen a lot of vids of dash cams, and it seems like the blackvue offers the best bang for buck, price vs vid quality. what im concerned the most is night time quality and the blackvue seems pretty damn good at night.

as for some of u thinking of gopro as a dash cam, its not a good idea as its big for a dashcam, and u need a lot of accessories/settings to make it work like a dash cam

i have my drg400 semi hard wired.

rather then hack up the wires i have an 4 port cig hardwired with constant power to it tucked behind my glove box and just have the dash plugged into that. i just unplug the power cord from the cam when i'm at work/home.

this works handy too if you want to charge an ipod or phone while you're in the store or something.
