Finally: '99 Outback Limited detailed

Its been a labor of love and hate. I got it with a blown up engine that had thrown a rod though the block. After getting a pullout engine installed and running and then having to pull it out again for head gaskets it was finally time to concentrate on the rest of the car. It had sat in the back yard at a friend's house; after his nephew ran it without oil, for many months covered in leaves and had mould growing on some panels and the interior filled with paint cans, soda cans, old Mcdonalds take out bags and other junk, so this is a BIG improvement. Still need to replace the cracked fog lights before inspection for permanent tags.

Literally spent like 6-8hrs with the polisher getting it to look like this. Had I not used a polisher, my hands would have fallen off. I guess the previous owners werent that good drivers 'cos the front and back bumpers have a lot of scratches and bumps. Will be painting the front middle section black to match the back, so that'll hide some of it.

still some rust that I need to take care of when I get the time, but in general, the engine bay is clean...

Roof rails restored to a nice black color...

Headlights polished a bit to get some of that haze and yellow out of it, still not perfect but it'll pass inspection. Will wet sand it and buff it out to look good as new when I get the time later...

Paint splattered on the dash; previous owner used to paint houses or something like that. Much better than it was, still working on it.

Wow, your car is so shiny! How many miles on the body? Aside from the driver's front fender, the car looks wonderful.

160k on the body and supposedly 80k on the motor I bought; but I highly doubt that after pulling it apart for the head gaskets.

Just got Hella 500FF's to replace the cracked factory fog lights. I don't think I'm gonna have time to do the install this weekend ... F!

Totaled everything up and the grand total including car, engine, headgaskets, timing belt/water pump, etc. came in at less than $2000!

I'm in the process of (hopefully!) selling my wrx and getting an 06 spec b off a buddy, first thing I plan to do is detail it up
