Default Another Motor Bites the Dust!

So I am posting this up for my buddy Sunny.

He had a nicely built and tuned cosworth block (but now we are questioning if it actually was or not)(JUST FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE COSWORTH INTERNALS NOT FULL COSWORTH SHORT BLOCK) with port and polished and built heads.

had it tuned to 466 hp with a stock sti top mount. ran really great for about 2-3 weeks like this. this thing just ripped

well 2 days ago Sunny was coming home let it rip in 4th and then pop.

this is what happened.

chunks from the holes.

So from what we can see so far is we think something happened to #3 for as the heads of the valves are gone on the intake side dont know about the exhaust.

Will post more when we get there.

ouch that is gnarly.

466whp with a stock sti top mount? I wouldn't do that. Even though the pressure drop is good and even and minimal, they still get heatsoaked reallly badly. Sorry to hear about the motor. I hope your friend upgrades the intercooler next time around, APS, MRT, and Spearco make some good quality top mounts.

ALL cosworth blocks have the cosworth ID tag on the top flat part above the starter (flat part where the numbers and 4 holes are) bottom right in the pic, so unless its just build with cosworth parts, but looking at the pic it wasn't a "cosworth built" block

I better had stock rods and one came apart. They do that at those levels.

I don't remember who built it but he was on 1000's at 400 hp for a couple months then moved to 1650's both with e85... Dynocomp was the one who tuned it...The 16k's put him to 466 with tons of headroom because rich didn't want to push it with the sti intercooler...29psi with a gt35r.

I doubt it was tuned to 29 psi. I am not even sure Rich tunes past 25 psi on stock ecu w/out an AEM MAP 3.5 bar. You sure you werent getting boost creep or have a manual boost controller youre not telling us about?

also sounds like someone did a little return to stock action, like removed front mount but left the turbo.

GT35R at 29psi on a stock TMIC is not pushing it?
