Default Mercedes-Benz A-Class AMG Will Get All-Wheel Drive Setup/US

Quote:
The A25 AMG is Mercedes-Benz‘s take on a sport tuned version of the A-Class hot hatch, and more details concerning the makeup of the car are out.
According to AMG boss Ola Kallenius, the A25 will be powered by a turbocharged four cylinder engine that will produce more than 335 hp. Original forecasts for engine power claimed that the A25 would outpower the Audi RS3, which makes 335 hp, so it seems AMG is on track to make the most powerful luxury hot hatch on the market.
Originally it was speculated that the A-Class would be a front wheel drive car, which would have compromised the handling of the car and “create oversteer,” says Kallenius. The A25 will come sporting an all wheel drive setup, likely to be sourced from the ML 63 AMG. “Pure front-wheel drive I would be extremely sceptical of from a performance point of view,” Kallenius said.
When the A25 AMG arrives, it will likely look close to the original A-Class concept, which adds some extra curving body lines and ground effects kit to make the car look the part of a turbocharged hot hatch. We may have already seen the A25 in this cyclists video, although we can’t be to sure.
America has missed out on some nice Euro cars in the past, but the A25 AMG should be making its way to the US, based on the fact that Mercedes has confirmed that the A-Class will definitely by sold here.

With 340 ponies and AWD it should accelerate very quickly, and it looks nice! I hope the interior looks less spaceship like though. Any idea on price?

At least 50K or more. The RS3 is 67K incl. VAT 19 percent/ about 50K US.

Looks like an entertaining car. So expensive, though.

M-Bs haven't looked like M-Bs since, oh, about 1995 when the W210 came about. Radiator grilles are too low now, and they need some little tail fins like a Rambler.

Wow, that's the first mercedes I've seen in a long time that doesn't make me think:

1. Retired racist doctor
2. Overleveraged athlete
3. Clueless arab college student

It's a pisser they can't get the front wheels further forward on these AWD cars. Wonder what the WD is? That is one heck of a front overhang.

Dear GOD, not this again.

It is the picture angle!!!!!! The photo was not taken directly from the side, and even if it was, unless the front is completely flat and not curved at all what you are seeing more of is the front of the car NOT the side.

Why is perspective so hard to understand.

He does have a point, though: it's probably a transverse fwd-based design with the engine ahead of or at least level with the front axle.

That statement WAS taking the perspective into consideration.

Calling out 1 and 3 seems kind of inconsistent. I think you missed "tyrannical despot" and "old hippie" in there as well.

As near as I can tell each letter in the AMG is worth at least 5 grand a pop on even entry level MB's. AMG's are all still "hand" made, correct?

And and STI with Nav and a few accessories is $39k, don't expect this to be less than $45 to start probably $48.9k.
