I never thought Consumer Reports would ever address these questions. It does however tell me that now, everyone knows the purpose of this car.

Wow.. Consumer Reports must be trying to respond to all of the criticism for their handling testing that places tail-happy results in the 'bad' category. It'll be interesting to see what they have to say about the BRZ's response in the lane change tests. Obviously a car like this wouldn't have been recommended by them prior to compulsory stability control systems.


Off-Topic.. why is Consumer Reports uploading an interlaced video to Youtube as 720p ? It looks horrible.

Well the BRZ is tailhappy when you want it to be and neutral otherwise. It's very controlled so it should get a decent overall review.

There was an interesting article about Consumer Reports' test track published earlier this week at http://www.hartfordbusiness.com/news23500.html. I only noticed it because it mentions Subaru near the end.

While Consumer Reports does not get cars from manufacturers for testing, it will occasionally borrow vehicles for comparison testing and familiarity. On the day of our tour around the facilities, Subaru engineers and public relations executives were on hand to show off a new vehicle.

I'll bet the article's author is talking about the BRZ shown in the video above.
