Default Doing 07 2.5i gaskets at 87k

Aside from switching to mls gaskets off the sti... What else should I do while I'm in there.

Ive heard some suggest

Engine mounts - not too sure about this one. I have a but of noise already and I hear these can add a lot.

Arp head studs. Not too sure what the benefit would be on an i but... Weigh in please.

Clutch. How do I measure the clutch wear?

I feel like just getting to the clutch to inspect it would be a hell of a job. I'd wait until it starts to slip.

On my former bugeye the HGs blew at ~110 k (170 000km) . Replaced the clutch since the engine was yanked out. Clutch wear? Compare the thread dept with respect to a new one, it will be fairly obvious. You could also do the timing belt and pulleys, since the TB is out anyways. Alltogether, it's one massive maintenance bill, but will give you another 160 000 km free of worries...

I had to do my headgaskets at 43.000 last month
Was out of warranty but SOA offer to pay for the parts.
But in my case, the reason is probably because has been hit in the driver front fender.
Even if the damage was minor.
So far I had to do headgasket in EVERY Subaru I've own.

97 Legacy Wagon with 132.000
03 Baja with 108.000

Will the engine be coming out of the car?

if so
  1. clutch, pressure plate, and TOB
  2. Reseal kit (head,intake, exhaust,valve, etc...)
  3. Timing belt/WP/rollers/tensioners/ serp belt
  4. 2 cans engne degreaser (clean that bad boy up)
  5. Tune-up (Air filter, Plugs, PCV, etc..)
  6. Soap and water (clean out engine bay while you have nice opening
  7. If coolant and oil got mixed, ide do a coolant flush (prestone kit or something) to flush gunk out of all coolant passages
Above all, do what you can afford, and get yourself on the road again. If engine is staying in car, just do gaskets and and TB/WP and call it a weekend or two.
