Default Fairbanks Racing Lions

My dad is a member of the racing lions here in Fairbanks and suggested I join up and encourage others with imports to join as well so that they could start up an import class for racing events in and close to Fairbanks. I think this would be very beneficial for us in Fairbanks. Just a suggestion. Let me know what you guys think.

I'm interested. Racing Lions used to run the drag races, and they usually organize a car show or two each summer. It would be nice to have more things to do in this area.

Get some more info and I'll read it. Maybe your Dad could come with us on Sunday, talk to us more about it himself. Or some other time would work too.

I'll do that. I'll see if he wants to come with on Sunday but I won't count on it. I'll ask him more and get more info. Let me know what all you want to know and I'll ask. If anyone else wants to ask some questions, ask me and I will relay all questions to him and let you guys know.

I'm already interested in joining so I'll probably join up at the end of May.

Do you guys have a site or email newsletter? I think our group would be interested in the car shows, and being another car group would love to invite you all to Tok for our Tanacross event.

Here is the website for the Fairbanks Racing Lions. Has some good info on what they're about and when the next meeting is. Non members are welcome it says. It also has some of the top members emails on there so that if anyone wants to contact them with any questions that aren't answered on the page they can contact them through here.

Any idea on what's going on with all of the land they supposedly "bought" last year off of badger rd where the speed way race track is at? The talk I heard at the race track was that they were going to have it all. Legend cars, mud bogs, drag strip, sprint car track, moto cross track..... All sorts of ****. Where all of the $ is coming from I have no idea. I put a lot of hard unpaid work out there for the last 2-3 summers and haven't seen **** really happen, so I gave up..... Sorry man, good luck.

+1... now is the time to rally support. This isn't about money, this about having more support in the community than detractors.

Good luck... you've got my vote!

Thank you! That's the message I'm trying to get across. If there wasn't any support for this kind of thing then there wouldn't be any events such as auto x and other events in this state (Anchorage lol). I would like to see more support in the Fairbanks area so that all the dreams and talks of having a track of some sort become a reality.

I am a firm believer in safe and sanctioned racing.

as much as i would love to have a sanctioned drag track or auto-x track here, i stopped believing anything the racing lions said after the so called "we bought land for a race track area" 4 years ago. if it happens it happens, if not im not going to hold my breath. if you want to keep up the good fight, i can show what support i can, but at the same time my pessimist side will always expect nothing from them.

CMON, LETS FINALLY GET THE BALL ROLLING ON THIS!!

We go to Tanacross (just past Tok) twice a year for racing and time-trials :-) memorial & labor day weekends. We had someone from Ft Greely see about doing some kind of autox this year but the dates they sent us we had an event already scheduled. If your club is wanting to do an autox closer, you might reach out to them.

if someone from your group wants to pm me i can get you in touch with who contacted us

Rumor has it that during the Golden Days parade this year the Lions club is asking people to sign a petition to allow then to lease land from the borough for their drag strip, road course and an off road track. Hopefully this thread isn't dead.

I just spoke with my dad about this and as I said before he is a long time member of the racing lions. The rumor is in fact true. They already have land that is leased. But there is a portion of land in the middle (that the borough has) in between the two portions of land that Fairbanks racing lions already have leased. They are trying to get people to sign a petition of support for the motorsports park that the Fairbanks racing lions are trying to get started.

They are farther ahead now then they ever were before in the past. If you can't make the golden days parade you can sign the petition over at diesel doctor on Davis road. If there are more than 3000+ signatures there will be no way for the borough to deny the interest in sanctioned racing in Fairbanks. Please please please show your support and tell your friends and tell them to tell their friends to sign this petition so that we can get this ball finally rolling!

^^ Thanks for looking into it Garrett. I'll sign it for sure. Glad to see there's another option other than at the parade. I've been here for 14 years and have yet to go to the parade.

I've spent enough time and energy on this in the past, the bickering inside the lions makes online forums look like a joy ride.

Goodluck.

Yeah. Thanks. It's a pretty simple request really. You just sign your name and it's done. If there's enough support we will finally have a track or something at least. So if signing your name for a cause is to energy depletive then I don't know what to tell ya.

I'll be more then happy to sign, that's not what I'm bitchin' about.

It's just my bitterness with how I saw that organization running, and the bickering between the members.

'Racecar' people are usually type A personalities, get a room of 30 of them, **** gets ugly, and things just don't move forward. Feelings get hurt, and people backstab eachother to purposely slow progress, just for a personal vendetta.

Sounds like a movie script I know... but I seen this crap 1st hand.

Didn't mean to offend you, but as you can see one little comment makes people pissy....
"So if signing your name for a cause is to energy depletive then I don't know what to tell ya."

Do some research on Fairbanks Forums and see how much time I've put into trying to merge the 'tuner' croud (what were called to them), and the self proclaimed 'big boys' croud... I've done alot more then just signing a peice of paper.

^^^ Well there has to some sort of compromises in order to make progress. I say instead of dwelling on the past look towards the future. There can be a lot of progress made if this state of mind and thinking is achieved.

If you are interested in signing the petition it's available at diesel doctor. I know you used to be a part of the lions club in the past and from what I've heard you've not been to a meeting in 2 years. A lot can change in 2 years and as I've said before they're closer than they have ever been in the past to make this this dream a reality.

Was there anyone that raced that was from Fairbanks? I didn't talk to EVERYONE but I think most of us were from Anchorage or Mat Su.
