Wait...so the system for putting orders into Subaru is SOS? Pretty sure we don't want to see that when our Impreza's are being carried over from Japan on a boat....

I agree with you. But I heard just to let the market get some more presence with the release of the new Impreza and for the BRZ to make a footprint.

But I'll keep checking here or if you want if you could PM me with what you find out when you send the email that would be cool. Whatever you prefer.

Thanks Mike,

Mark

That doesn't make sense. I believe he means that system can still be used to monitor in progress orders, but cannot be used to enter any new orders.

Sold Order System = SOS. Bad joke, I guess. Sorry, just the first thing I noticed....

Technically it would be the SSoS (Subaru Sold Order System)

That is a funny point, and reminds me of hte resteraunt industry.

Most all order entry systems are reffered to as POS (Point of Sale)....and they are all usually a Piece of $hit

Rofl. I work in the resort industry, so I have plenty of experience with those Po$ systems.

Exactly. The system isn't down...you just can't order a new 2012 WRX/STI, if you want one after today you will have to get it from dealership allocations.

I'm actually surprised it stayed open this long, I ordered mine in the end of March fully expecting it to close in early April.

I would also be shocked if Subaru didn't carry over a 2013...but Mitsu did it between the generations of the EVO, so anything is possible.

BMW has done it with their M3s, Mitsu with the Evos, the reason being is it takes a ton of resources to put a new car out. New designs, last minute bugs, new build processes. Everything takes time. Time on the production line, time in the office, etc.

However, that said, I would think Subaru would have had an extra long build year of the 2012 instead of cutting it off early in April. Maybe they are so far behind schedule that this is just what they feel they need to do to open resources up for the BRZ and the next WRX/STI. It will be interesting to find out.

It'll be cool for the 2012 wrx/sti owners to have no refreshes for a year

After that you will have to wait for the Sold Order System to open for the 2013 model, which will likely be around the middle/end of June. A 2013 will likely arrive around August/Sept and I am told they will basically be the same car for one more year. Then the 2014 USDM model will be the "All New" wrx with the 2.0 etc...

Where did you hear 2014 for new WRX? I was hearing 2015. Subaru has 2 model launches for MY2014(Forester&Hybrid). I can't remember when they ever had a third.

I've heard it in several didn't areas on the net. No doubt it's 2014 for wrx's and sti's but the question is if there is going to be a 2013 MY for those. Obviously doesn't make a difference to me either way was just trying to help people out in case it is indeed true to catch a 2012 MY. Last night was the deadline so whoever procrastinated oh well and hope for a 2013.

So, that makes it fact? Was it SOA or FHI that said it? Then I would believe the "no doubt" statement.

From what I am hearing, it will be in CY2014 as a MY2015. I tend to believe this for a couple reasons. Look how long it took to get the BRZ out? If they are starting from scratch for the WRX/STI, I think it will be MY2015. If it is sooner, I have NO problem eating my words.

Yeah, I shouldn't have used no doubt. Who cares really. Got my 2012. If they do come out with a 2013 or not I'm good with it. It's all rumorville speculation type of deal anyway on when the new model wrx's are coming out. By the time I'll be looking again it'll be nice and solid on production runs.

It actually closed at 4.00PM EST today, got a call from my contact at the Subaru Dealership here in Grand Rapids saying that if I wanted to place an order I had to do it by 4PM. I couldn't not place an order so now I have a 2012 Subaru WRX in Satin White Pearl on the way!
