Driver side rear bushing is shot. Lots of play and a horrible rattle. I've been searcing all morning, and still don't know what I'm looking for. The DIY's I've found don't look like the bushings just go on top and bottom, but don't mention removing the old one... am I missing something? Do they get pressed out? I just dropped one side and I certainly can'y just get them out by hand. I want to get urethane, and I need them soon. I have a bushing removal tool (cup, adapters and thrust bearing) made for the BMW, but it's borrowed and I need to return it next weekend. I'd like to get something shipped here this week so I can install them before I return the tool (especially if they need to be pressed out). So: How do I remove and replace these? What bushings can I order so I know they fit and they can be overnighted or express shipped?

If the OEM outrigger bushings are not deteriorated, then you can purchase the upper and lower urethane insert bushings that sit between the bushing and the body/plate.
Otherwise, if you want you can press out the bushings and install a sleeved urethane bushing. Inserts by Kartboy: http://www.oakos.com/Merchant2/merch...gory_Code=1215 Sleeved bushing by Noltec: http://www.oakos.com/Merchant2/merch...gory_Code=1215 Contact the vendor directly about having either shipped to you. |

Sorry to keep up with the questions, but are these bushings the same throughout the "Impreza" line?
The link above shows 02-07 WRX and STi, but doesn't mention our lowly Outback. Is there a good site for OEM part #s and diagrams that I could cross-reference? I know of a few for the other cars, but not one for Subarus. |

Hey,
I would personally go with the bushings from Kartboy, the soft version which will still be firmer than stock On a side note, they do not have to pressed out, just take the old ones out and replace with new. Make sure to tighten the bolts to the right specs. Last edited by subi400; 04-22-2012 at 05:07 PM. |
