the only poor ergonomic thing to me are those Trip/Info stalks which really should be buttons somewhere more conveniently located, IMHO.
I think people swoon fairly easily at more complex looking interiors. I like a nice interior where everything works and is easy to figure out.

The dash and interior are a little reminiscent of my 91 Integra. Clean and simple. Everything you need and nothing you don't. Ahhhhhh I wish the Impreza had the seats those Integra seats....

On the topic of seats, which seat covers did you pick up? I really can't stand how fast the fabric seats are wearing out from the rubbing when we get into the car.

I went to Discpunt auto parts and picked up a set of cheapo $20 covers. Theyre black with a gray insert. Pretty nice for the price. They have the tear away sections for airbags and even seperate headrest covers.

The stock fabric is amazingly snag inducing and very fragile!

Well that's no good. I don't want my seat to be wearing out within the first few years.

So, tested a V6 AWD Fusion, pretty much loaded, and that thing felt amazing. Annual costs on it are roughly the same ($500 more including fuel, payments, and insurance). The car does have 41,000 miles, but it is fully loaded. And don't laugh, but it has an analog clock just like my parent's Lincoln, and that is a big plus to me. Looks classy. So, I either wait for the Impreza or I buy the Fusion. On the fence about this one.

That really sucks about the fabric being so fragile. Is the wear really noticeable? Anyone have pics of it?

Do you see noticeable wear already? If so, can you share a pic? And, which model Impreza do you have? Or, did you go to using the seat cover before that happened?

My seats are the standard black tricot. My car is a Premium.
I put the seat covers on after like two days because the seats just look and feel so fragile. My seats still look new thanks to the covers. But as softly padded as they are, I see having to reupholster them down the line sometime in several years. I do have a youtube video of tje seat sqeaking from the backrest. I still havent had the time to get it in to the dealer.

My 2002 golf had a much better fabric. So did my 96 and 97 jettas.

The fabric in my 2003 Golf was quite nice. Maybe one of the best fabric seats I have seen.

I have a black interior coming in my MBP Premium, so hopefully the fabric isn't as bad as you say.

Well, that will be my car soon enough. That was my impression of the fabric, seemed very thin. In retrospect, I wish I had paid more attention and got the next model up with the better fabric. But if I can solve the problem by buying a cheapo $20 seat cover every couple of years, I can live with that. In fact, a basic seat cover is probably better than a really good one in the winter, I'll be able to feel the heated seats.

So, the smart money decided to stick with an Impreza. So I'm either waiting for mine to arrive, or we have a lead on one that is almost the same, just adds tweeters, moonroof, and the alloy wheel package at another dealer. So now it is just a question of if they can do a better deal than the other one.

do your homework on the invoice pricing/value of the additions and try your best to pay no more that on top of your base pricing, and if you can much less. sometimes (not always) a dealer will give you a bigger discount or throw in the cost of items you really don't want/need (for instance if you argued you really didn't want the tweeters or alloy wheels).

good luck!

That's what I'm hoping, and since I already have one on order, they may match my OTD on the less spec'd one, either through better money on trade or bringing down the price of the car.

And I have a VIN! Should be off the boat on the 17th and in my hands the early part of June. Decided to stick with this one because it would be a bit cheaper, and buying it from my local dealer should help solidify the relationship (you know, for handling those pesky TSBs).

awesome: you're in the clear if you have a VIN. i'm assuming they gave you an actual date in June. usually, your car will come in no later than date and sometimes a few days earlier from what i understand.

Yep. June 4th. Dealer said he usually sees them a couple of days before, but they have arrived a few days late before.

Going to add the auto-dimming mirror with compass when it gets there.

have you negotiated a decent dealer install for the mirror? if not, check out a thread i started earlier about my experiences installing a mirror. not impossible, but good to hopefully benefit from my challenges and lessons learned.

I learned I don't want to accidently screw up the headliner. Sounds like they weren't going to charge much, if any, labor to put it in, so should be just the part. Paying for it separately from the car (i.e. not wrapping it in the loan, paying cash).

my dealer wanted $110+ for the installation (i got my homelink mirror for $162, but they wanted something like $276 installed -- and that latter number was a "special deal" as it is regularly $330 or something)

if they will do it for you for under $50, i'd say have them do it.
