Default Tuning an 08 STi with tactrix.. not possible?

So after talking to a specific tuner for weeks and gathering the parts he recommended it turns out he cannot tune my car with my Tactrix 2.0 cable and I need an AP2.. He's telling me he won't be able to tune the car correctly with the 08 (not sure of the significance of the 08 particularly?) because the OS does not support "IPW and "Stumble" fixes. Not sure what either of those are (that's why I pay someone else to do this kind of stuff) but I'm wondering if this is case closed or what? Are there any other methods or ways around this or do I need an AP2?

Thanks for the second opinions!

RomRaider had the tables for the "stumble" fix before Cobb. Your tuner may prefer one platform over the other but it is not because Tactrix cable or RomRaider not being able to tune 08 STI

This^.

If a tuner is telling you that, I would go somewhere else.

Sounds like he is either incompetent or dishonest, maybe both.

Or, more likely, he's just not as familiar with OpenSource tuning as he is with Cobb.

Then why act like he is familiar and give that answer? Again, incompetence or dishonesty.

It may sound a bit harsh, but with the amount of know-nothing laptop jockeys out there calling themselves 'professional tuners', I call em' like I see em'.

Ok, well it looks like I gotta go with another tuner. He's still stuck on the AP (maybe he works for cobb haha) so I'll be looking around. Can somebody recommend a good tuner that can give me a 91 + e85 map with the following mods:

TurboXS CAI
ID1000cc injectors
dw65c fuel pump
Catless TBE (Tsudo divorced DP + Greddy Ti-C catback)
GS EBCS
Tactrix 2.0

It has also been brought up that I need a wideband. I have heard a lot about the LC1.. Any cheaper alternatives? Thanks!

Well, you don't need a wideband if the tuner has one, however, I highly recommend it. It is very cheap insurance and you can't go wrong with an innovate MTX-L.

I'm not very familiar with the area, but I know Phatron and Ed from Equillibrium Tuning are both out in CA somewhere and should be able to help you out with the OS tune for sure. Otherwise ask around your local forum for opinions.
