I moved a good distance from any Subaru dealership in the northern sticks of Louisiana. My compass is stuck on SE at the moment. Before I moved, I threw away the Subaru magazine that included a small tech article on how to recalibrate the compass. I think it mentioned if I move far enough north, that the zone might need to be changed. I know if I push the left button for 3 seconds, the calibrate word comes up, but I don't know what to do after that. I believe the next step might have been to drive slowly in a complete circle, but I didn't read any further. Well, I've since moved and thrown that away. I searched, but didn't find a single thread on the compass. I did find a few showing how it worked, but not how to recalibrate it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Hank http://rufridr.com/wrx.htm

I can't answer your question, but I believe the answer is in your owner's manual. Did oyu throw that out too?

Push and hold the left button until you see the CAL led. Then slowly drive around in a continual circle until the CAL goes away (it takes approximately 3 revolutions). And wallah, you're calibrated!

My fiancee had taken her keys with the master WRX key, so I could not get into the glove box. I locked it before she took the keys. So, that's why I couldn't get to my manual. I didn't feel that I needed to explain a few wasted paragraphs for such an easy procedure.
Thanks for the information, but it turns out a wire has torn loose in the mirror itself. The compass is still stuck on SE, even after I changed the zone to 7. I tried to calibrate, but noticed the loose wire soon afterwards. It's actually inside the back of the mirror, but I didn't want to destroy the mirror trying to get to it. I'll let warranty take care of it. Thanks for the criticism, Oh and the help too! ![]() |
