I am so close to having my e85 on my VF39. Just need injectors now.

Sure is! I am pretty sure I won't kill it. Plus I'd like to be able to sell it in good working order in order to recoup some of the money spent on the STI transmission.

You won't regret it. E85 is awesome. I feel like the car is running so much better on it. Idle seams smoother, even EGTs seem a touch lower. All around very worth while decision, very glad my tuner had my go this route over Meth.

I agree. I've been tuning an 06 STi of a friends that's rotated and on e85. I'm pretty anxious to get my injectors

My guess is no or at least I hope not. I know of local STis on e85 and VF39s that are in the 11s

I will not derail this thread but I have no concern for e85 "going away" I live in the corn/soy bean belt and it isn't going away for a long time. It's readily available and makes great power.

No 11s for me at the moment not with my glass transmission

I don't think it's going away....as a matter of fact they have added SEVERAL new gas stations by me with it. If it does go away then, well it is what it is...I'll flash it to 93 and keep on rolling.

The 5speed with a competent driver should be able to handle more power. There are a few over 500 on stock boxes. It's all in the driving. But I agree. I no longer launch mine as hard but after reading so much I think this may be changing 1st has so much support it's nuts. 3rd is the scary one an it has nothing to do w a launch.

Glad to see your happy with your car. This is one of the better, well put together, self built car, we have had at the shop. Always nice to do a boost leak test, and not have to fix any thing, as its already buttoned up tight!

Great work Mike!!!

I agree it has a lot to do with the driver. I am almost on a mission to rock this thing as long as I can just to prove some people wrong...well maybe not wrong but that it can last if not abused.

I would be kinda pissed if it went away but if it does then w/e. I plan to switch to 93 for winter months so I don't have to deal with the inconsistency of the e85 during the colder season. However during the summer months I'll be right back on it, it's really that awesome

Lol yeah pretty much. When I get on it I let the RPMs fall before I shift. I make sure I always have the clutch pedal stomped against the floor and I don't let it "snap" back...not sure if that make sense. I'm not slipping it I just don't shock the trans I guess you can say.

Thanks for the props Ian! I came from Toyota but working on this car feels some what natural. It helps when you have all your good tools from the days at the dealer. Now if I had a lift I could really be doing big things haha.

I always let my rpm fall, I dont see a need to "power shift" my car as i have plenty of power to pull threw my gears and I can say in doing so I can shift very quick an I am not abusing my gearbox

I soon hope to be over 450 awhp on my 5speed..I know theres a few over 500awhp so I know it can be done, will it fail yeah i'm sure but nothing is bullet proof

I must admit I am pretty jealous of all these corn fed subarus. I am shooting for those same power levels on pump with my 07sti build and it is taking me a bigger turbo and a stroker to get there. We just don't have the corn here in the double decaf latte belt.

Nope But the clutch has decided it doesnt like to hold all the torque any longer...Anything over 15 lbs and itll slip, I think its the pressure plate. Obviously putting a real clutch set up in the car would cause the 5 speed to go BOOM so there was really only one solution.....

More on this tomorrow
