Default Random misfire codes

So i have an 07 wrx and i get random misfire codes. I bought an accessport and slapped a front mount and cobb staged 2d it for me, however cobb never dyno or tuned it. I am now running the stage three map from cobb and the car is running ok. so i took it to a subaru dealership had them do a compression test and switch plugs they said the engine looked fine. Now the codes are come and go and its for random cylinders. I have seen 1 and 4, 2 and 4, and right now is shoowing misfire in 1 and 3 with PFFFE code. I have read that it could be coils, wiring, plugs, running rich etc. Im kind of a new guy to the subaru scene and hoping someone could help me out. For the record probably ssticking to subaru for a while love that car!

Thanks for your time.

My 06 outback xt Cobb stage 2 has been having cyl 1 misfire fits for 2 weeks. It only happens at idle and drives fine otherwise until you get to a red light. New plugs, injectors, swapped coil packs, even replaced tmic as it seemed to be leaking. Runs great with new parts but p0301 still is alive and well! Any ideas? Please let me know what Cobb says.

Took the car to Cobb today, and they said it was more than likely bad spark plugs or injectors. They wanted to smoke the engine to check for leaks but did not have time. I called my Subaru dealership and found out the guy before me had Subaru "performed tear down of engine found rings correction replaced short block" in june 2011. Then i found in july 2001 "verified concern found fuel injectors #1 and #3 erratic operation. Causing misfire on 1&3 with a count of 50+". replaced them and non mor misfire but its back so i have no idea.

I personally just check coils and plugs and everything looked fine. Still trying to find out what's going on. Any ideas at all? Maybe ecu?

Sounds like you have might possible have burnt valves to me. Pull a vacuum line off and check vacuum. Should hold rock steady at idle. If the needle fluctuates or jumps around, I'd be taking heads off and sending them to get checked.

Have you checked to see that the engine is grounded well to the frame?
