Very interesting move indeed. For what has always been a hardcore driver's car, it seems like it's basically a lightweight, RWD, manual GTR now. I know that sounds like "It's like a GTR in that it's completely not", but those systems, while insanely impressive, are the same type of electronic wizards which gained the lament of internet fanbois who would never drive such cars in their lifetimes. Curious how they will be perceived by the internet keyboard jockeys.

Either way, I'm very impressed they managed to make a car that will or won't kill you (up to you) and kept it in line with the originals in its light weight while adding the electronic wizardry that can make these cars so impressive.

Really? I think they've been making the Elise/Exige chassis uglier with every update.

It looks like they've been trying to turn a simple, classically-styled sports car into a dwarf Carrera GT.

People have been doing Evora swaps into their exiges for some time now. 400+ reliable whp all day long is not uncommon. I considered going this route with my exige but decided I didn't have 20k to spare for the project, and at the time rumors were already circulating that Lotus was testing the concept out themselves anyway. The car definitely needs/could use the extra power. Talk all you want about the advantages of a lightweight car, but you can't replace advantages hp/torque gives you. The day this comes to the US is the day I trade in my old exige for this one

This car you quoted is actually a Lotus GT1. It used the Elise chassis, but there is where the major similarities stopped. I believe some people call it an Elise "variant," but it was never an "update" to the model line up. 550 Hp, full CF body, sequential dog gears, the list goes on an on. It was a car specifically developed for racing.

Not trying to tell you you're wrong, just thought people would enjoy the info

Yeah, I just threw it in there because: pretty.

I thought about throwing the 211 in there as well.. but decided it didn't help my case.

I want that one! Was for sale a while back for 85, but it looks like it has been through a few more iterations since then.

350 hp? Pfft. That doesn't win internet bench racing races.

Why would I buy this when I could get a Mustang with 662 HP?

It does when the car weighs half as much. Although I'm impressed by what Ford has done with the Mustang lately. Can't wait to see in the new version in a couple years.
