Yup - you are right - just checked the SoA press release. I had assumed that if the premium was gone, the base was, too - weird!

Thanks illmatic it looks amazing...and the engine undoubtably sounds like a boxer but to me it seems like all the usual clatter is actually refined now, instead of offbeat.

I just have two questions, that I may have missed the answer to reading this thread:
1. Does is only come as a wagon? Or is there a sedan version also. 2. Is there a manual trans as standard or option? Or is it only 5eat/CVT. My phone wouldn't let me watch the videos so I couldn't use those. |

Sedan, too. Exclusively CVT AFAIK. Subaru's press release makes no mention of manual option when discussing the transmission in the DIT.

I don't mind shifting. Did it most of my life, but manual=slower and lower MPG. Nah, I'll take the CVT.

This ^^^ It definitiely needs a Sport and/or Sport# mode. Standard settings on Legacy and Outback CVT are too timid. Impreza CVT is definitely more aggressive.

Perhaps rather than set parameters, they could provide continuous variable torque response via paddles; the longer one tugs on a given paddle the more torque is applied, and vice versa ?

IF subaru puts CVT's in all their sedans, they will lose me forever. It is the devils transmission. It is the only thing I can imagine worse than a slush box.
