Hey Greg,
Happy to send you a map, but beware I still have the stalling-when-super-hot problem a lot of Link people have. Otherwise this map does really well. Nice low and high end, but a little rich, which is the way I like to run anyway. PM me an email address and Ill shoot it over to you Cheers JaMa Quote:

I have not had a problem with any cars stalling when the car is super hot.
I would try raising or lowering your HOT IDLE number a little and see what happens. This is more then likely what is causing the stalling problem. |

JaMa,
Just noticed your posting on Scoobynet. Have you emailed Bob Rawle yet ? If there isn't anything that he doesn't know about the Link then it isn't worth knowing. He is probably one of the best tuners of the Link and works very closely with Link NZ. |

Yeah, I have tried about everything I can, and in fact I am selling my Link in favor of a different system anyway. I have fiddled with the hot restart numbers a lot and aside from being a little bit leaner I have not really noticed it making a difference. Also, from what I can tell, the only people who have had these problems have been at altitude and running larger fuel pumps than stock, so maybe theres some correlation there, who knows.
The one thing I can truly say about the Link is that you need to know what you are doing. I dont, and I admit it, but the lack of good information about it is irritating to me. Now, there are plenty of people out there running the Link successfully and good for them, but I am personally going to something I can take to the dyno and let a professional tune. I really dont think I should have to "babysit" the computer to make it work properly and thats the direction I have decided to go. If you are willing to go out and buy a Wideband O2 sensor and gauge, fuel pressure gauge, etc etc etc I think the Link is great. You have to be a very dilligent "fiddler/tuner" to make the Link a worthwhile solution, and I have too much else to do to play around with it right now, plus I dont want to put money into extras that other systems come with. Since I am basically done with my mods until my engine decides to give up, I am going to have someone tune a custom solution for me. I am ready to get in the car every morning and have it start and run reliably with the set of mods I have, so the Link is going "bye bye." Thanks for the replies!!! JaMa,
Thank you for your explanation. I have been out there trying to help people tune thier cars, over the internet and locally. As for you I think you have made thr right decision, if you can not find someone to tune the Link for you, then move on and get something else. I am sorry we do not have someone out there to tune for you as I sure would if I was there. But you can't be everywhere. Good luck with your other solution. Another contact is AMR Modifications, I work closely with them and they work very closey with Link NZ and Link USA. HomeGrownXC, In any case, I have not known about this problem but I have brought it to AMR's attention and hopefully they can figure out. Could someone send me thier MAP and a datalog of the problem, plus your modifications and what altitude you are at. I can take a look and send it on over to AMR to get another source of help. wknose@i-speedusa.com |

I have talked to Link USA at great lengths about this, sent them my map and a bunch of datalogs, and the only thing they can offer is to replace my board and see if that works. Hopefully it will but if not then I will probably be joining the ranks of Jama... which makes me sad becuase I DO REALLY LIKE the Link. And I am the one who he is referring to with the wideband, fuel pressure, etc gauges . To me I REALLY like the control and flexibility the Link offers. |

Thanks very much for the info...
I am going to post on the MRT board you referred to - I have been looking for a good Link forum, and that one looks to be as good as they get. Im very surprised no one else has brought up this problem on there, as I know a number of people who have this issue on a regular basis. I really do like the Link too, and I am really disappointed that its closed loop mode is not better than it is, because I am just too cheap to spend another $1000 on gauges, sensors, etc to make an already $1500 ECU product function properly. I was having a TPS related problem with my Link. Sent the board in to Link USA (thanks Tariq), board was replaced and problem went away.
I am at sea level (Portland, OR) and I have never had a stalling problem despite one day at 102F and several others near 100F. I likne the Link very much and if it had a smooth, lean idle it would be perfect for my uses. We may be getting a 4wd dyno here soon with wideband A/F. I would tune it on the dyno and then forget about it. |

Paulw, have you looked here . That is what I did to solve my rich idle and now I can idle lean and it will not stall no matter what (unless I pop the clutch at idle). It is worth a shot and is what I believe will work for most everyone with a rich idle. You need to go to the bottom of the first page and look threw the second page.
-Chav Edit: Whoops, just read threw and saw your post. |
