Plastidipped the stockers. I think they turned out pretty decent looking for the price!

Was browsing around lowes today and came across the clearance section. Had 4 cans of Plasti-dip for $2 each. F*ck yea.
As some may know i dont have carpet around the walls of my trunk, just some Home depot sound proofing. Haven't found anyone selling the trunk carpet set and got tired of looking at white protecto-wrap and gray paint. Here is the outcome. I'm also hoping these couple layers help reduce the sound of my exhaust just a little bit. Sorry for ****ty pictures. Only had my droid. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

home depot website says this about it...
"The Plasti Dip 11 oz. Flat Black Vinyl Coating Spray is great for auto, RV and marine applications. The spray comes in a flat black color and dries to the touch in as little as 30 minutes for quick applications. It can be used indoors and outdoors and requires a primer for use. The 11 oz. can works well on areas up to 5 sq. ft." -http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-202261898/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=plasti-dip&storeId=10051 Do I really need a primer for my wheels? |

Question for those that have this on their exterior: what happens if you get wax in it? Does it come off without destroying the plastidip? If you were to put blue tape on the plastidip to mask it off, would the tape peel it off?

Black is the most common because thats usually the only color stores stock. You can buy lots of other colors online.

doing it up, plastidipping the wheels. Slow process because I am doing it one wheel at a time...
-Jack one side at a time -Take one wheel off -Clean and dry it -4 coats plastidip -Place wheel back on, on to the next one Good thing about this is I can clean my brembo's, just gonna be a 8 hour process and than let sit over night in the garage when I am done. Started at noon. |

i have found out that if you use a heat gun after each layer of plasti-dip, it finishes much smoother and it is much more durable.
just make sure you dont hold it on one spot too long or it will bubble. |

Also with a heat gun it dries in 3-4 minutes instead of 25-30.

in a pinch and on a budget.. plastidip is a great alternative for that matte black look and it's rather durable.
i used it on a lot of my chrome trim/front bumper center cap on my sportback and it always stood up to heat/washing exposure. |

I did the same thing but I utilized my spare tire and then was able to get two wheels done at the same time. Mine turned out great: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
