Yes I did! Once those Star Specs get too hot, man are they loose! It was my first time out at that track, however I feel like I have it down like the back of my hand after just one day! I got a ton of open laps in being that I jumped to the front of the line for every session

Which car were you in?

I was in the Red 08 WRX, number 45. You passed me earlier in the session and then I never saw you again . Granted I was behind the M5, Camero and Challenger most of the morning.

Default DEBRIEF-First Annual Subaru Track Day!

Wow, what a great event and a great turnout!

First off I want to thank and recognize our Subaru community that showed up for this event, there was no drama and no incidents all day it was nice to meet you all and make new friends. The track day folks got six 30 minute sessions, one helluva lot of driving. My Observations: Subaru people are fun to hang with, they are good drivers and they have cool cars! We had a good turnout and a good variety of cars.

We had a GM coupe with a 2.5 swap, a couple of Leggy GT wagons, 5 doors, STI's, a full blown rally car (mine ) with my son Jake driving and a BRZ driven by Dave form PIA, lots of Soobs from two countries.
We had a few show up to observe too, including Danielle in her Unicorn RS.

I also want to recognise our sponsors, without their help this would not have been possible.

Little Creek Casino and Salish Cliffs Golf Club our title sponsor, Shelton, WA. thanks for the $70 room rate-what a bargain and the great door prizes! Plan your getaway at Little Creek Casino!

Maxwell Power Sports, Marysville, WA. our participating sponsor. Damn-what do I say? Not only did Dominic pony up sponsor bucks so we could offer the driving school at $399 ($100 off) and provide an awesome full on pulled pork lunch included with registration but he also brought Kory with the 240SX + LS1++ that entertained us all day! If you have not seen this MPS drift monster, you haven't lived yet! And while Dominic was killin time and not tracking his swapped shop monster RS, he fixed 3 (?) cars and drove to Olympia for a coil pack, how do you beat that? See Dominic for your performance, tuning and anything Subaru needs. Thanks Dominic!

Pacific Import Auto, Spanaway, WA. These guys are into everything Subaru. Thanks to Dave for bringing the brand new (200 miles) BRZ for us to drool on and for flinging it around the track for photo ops. PIA also provided a bunch of door prizes including Dyno tunes, Dyno pulls and Synthetic oil changes and tons of hats! PIA is our south end Subaru connection. If you need a STI swap or a 60k service, see Dave.

Delta Cam, Tacoma, WA. Jon from Delta came to play with us (flinging his car around) and handed out some great door prizes including gift certs for head work and cam grinds. If you need your bumpstick massaged, Delta will hook you up! Thanks Jon!

Last but certainly not least I want thank Fred Wright from Ridge Racing School!
We had the idea for this event but absolutely could not have made this happen without Fred, Cathy, Chris and their crew of instructors and support folks. Fred helped us make this happen, he was willing to take a chance on us and helped us get the school price down to $399. I attended a couple of Freds events prior to committing to this and these guys are world class, good guys, organized and knowledgeable. Fred runs a tight ship, the instructors are awesome, we are planning to partner with them again next year. Ridge Racing runs events year around if you don't want to wait until next year go here: http://ridgeracingschool.com/ why wait? Go thru Fred's Ridge racing School or HPDE now and be ready for our track day next year! Seriously, Fred runs the best racing school with the best professional instructors at the best track in the NorthWest!

We are going to repeat this next year. We are looking for ideas and feedback. This is your event, what do you want?

Do you like the weekend between Fathers Day and Independence Day?

What day do you like? Friday, Saturday, Sunday?

Do you like combining Driving School and track day? (Students and HPDE drivers are not on the track at the same time)

Would you like this combined with another Subaru event?

Are hotels important?

Is camping important?

Would you like after hours activities?

What sponsors would you like to see?

What else? Lets start a conversation and design this...

Cheers, Mark

I dropped in and said hello on Friday, it was fun to see other Subaru's on the track again. I spent the weekend at the track as well, below is some footage from one of the sessions on Sunday.

Okay, the video of my final run is updated and viewable here:

Please excuse my vocal notes to myself about braking, blown corners and my screaming in joy was I attempting to chase down an E 92 M3 . Also the video is a little shaky on the front straight from my suspension being set on "break your teeth" setting.

Enjoy!

Yeah I was going pretty hard with it, first time on the track with her too! The Camaro and Challenger were much slower than you were though, did you end up passing them? Out of curiosity, do you have any videos of when I went past you? Just like seeing it from another perspective Fun day all the way around!

We are going to repeat this next year. We are looking for ideas and feedback. This is your event, what do you want?

Do you like the weekend between Fathers Day and Independence Day?
I think it was a perfect weekend for it.

What day do you like? Friday, Saturday, Sunday?
Friday, or Saturday is the best in my opinion but that's just because it works best personally with my schedule

Do you like combining Driving School and track day? (Students and HPDE drivers are not on the track at the same time)
I think it's great simply because of the atmosphere it produces. It's good for everyone to be around each other, and meet new people.

Would you like this combined with another Subaru event?
I think the more the merrier to be honest. It will only encourage more Subaru people to get out there!

Are hotels important?
Irrelevant for me because I will always go home same day. I could see it being important to other folks.

Is camping important?
Same as above answer.

Would you like after hours activities?
Personally after a full track day I'm ready to go home. Up at 5 AM to be out there, and racing 4-5 sessions I'm beat.

What sponsors would you like to see?
A drink and or energy drink sponsor would be great.

What else? Lets start a conversation and design this...
Personally I love how things were ran but I would like to see a little bit more time between sessions. I know this means consuming more time but I felt just a little bit rushed in between each session. I'm not sure if anyone else felt this way?
Cheers, Mark[/quote]

Regardless, I look forward to being out at the track more in general and building more relationships as time goes on.

Thanks,
Zach
