Default Help with 2012 WRX front bumper

I took my bumper off without any issues today to paint the headlights black. So when putting everything together again all looks fine except on both sides right below the headlights' corners near the fender won't line up flush. When i look at the tabs the very top is pushed up against the actual body unlike all the others. Not sure if I just didn't notice this before taking it off or if the top one is supposed to be the hardest to snap back in and so this is normal? Everything aligns perfectly expect for the two corners on both sides, anyone have suggestions? I tried putting in a flat head to bring the tab lower but it goes right back into place. I even tried applying a little more pressure to see if it would snap back in but it won't.

Pictures would help. Probably just need to use some force.

pics would be later tonight. I applied a lot of force and it would't go. Whats weird is I must be doing something wrong snapping it back in since both sides are doing it. Does the top tab right below the headlight corners usually take some pushing? The rest locked in with almost no effort.

Is your fender liner on the bottom flush? It makes we think that maybe something is lined up wrong... or overlapping incorrectly. Also, could it be from the headlights being tweaked wrong? Did you check to make sure they are flush?

I have removed the front and rear bumper a ton on my 2009. It usually takes a bit of flex in the bumper, a little pull and push... but it always snaps into place.

Thanks for the response. Once I am off I will take it back off but what looks off to be is the one tab where its not connecting sits much higher compared to the levels of the other. Do you know if the tabs that hook into the bumper are all supposed to be at the same level or is it normal for the top one to be higher up making it more difficult to hook into?

Everything besides those corners on both sides lined up perfectly as far as I can tell.

I am wondering if I should take it to the dealer since i've only had it 2 weeks or if i should go home and take the bumper off again to try and see if I can fix it.

I think YouTube has a video on this. Might want to check it out. Good luck, hope you can realign it back.

Thanks to both of you also. I think the youtube video is for removing the bumper only. I actually used it to remove mine ha. I have looked for a video for putting it back on but no luck. Could it really be an alignment issue even though the other parts line up perfect?

I just got a message from the person who helped me with the headlights and he mentioned that one bolt can cause that last tab to come up to high and it sounds like this is the issue I am having! Excited to get home and loosen that bolt up to see if my issue is done with. Thanks all! And Corey

So does that look normal? I just took everything apart again and am still having the same issue.

If I take it to the dealer does anyone think they will fix with no cost? I looked and everything looks like it is where it is supposed to be so it's not like anything is bent or broke. I am just wondering if they would charge me since I took it off?

Does anyone have a close up of this section of their own car they can put up so I can compare? I would really appreciate it. It's looking like I will have to take it to the dealer to get it aligned correctly bc I cannot see anything off and everything else lined up.

come to think of it, i also have a gap in the same area, not as bad as yours but still annoying. haven't really had a chance to mess with it so curious to find out what's the fix. are the holes on the bumper clipping into this clips shown in this pic (to the right of the bolt)?

That clip that sits so high the bumper is not clicking to. The bumper even has a lip on this clips hole that makes me think the lip is there to help push that clip down and make it go into the bumper but it wont. I just made an apt with the dealer for saturday to see if they can fix. I dont think its normal. I just never noticed it before getting ready to remove the bumper and thought nothing of it since I figured I could correct it when putting it all back on but still wouldnt correct. Bothers me

Aww man really thats kinda sad. I couldnt swore there was little to no gap on the other pics i've seen. Maybe its the angles though.

angles and distance will cause it to look differant. I just google image this and you can see the gap is pretty much spot on.

From that picture I thin the gap leading up to the top near the headlight looks good but right below the headlight looks much worse on mine. Judging by the pic of course. This sucks
