Question WRX Engine Questions

I am looking for a used motor for my 2004 Wrx. When I look on alot of sites, such as ebay they have motors that are JDM, Diffrent JDM Versions, and motors that look exactly like mine but say they fit a 92 93 94. They have wrx motors from 07, and all sorts. I know my motor is an ej20 turbo, dohc. I take the Titles on sites such as ebay with a grain of salt, knowing they may just be listing lots of titles so it pops up on your computor when searching, such as "IMPREZA WRX STI 2.0L ENGINE JDM GC8" lol,..... but I was wondering do the JDM motors, and motors from 06,07's fit without modification an 04 wrx? Basically I am looking to know what engines I could use that would easily swap and cause me no problems, and what all these JDM ebay motors are about. Thank You for ANY help!

The only motor you are likely to have no problems with is from the exact same year. If you use a different year, there might be wiring issues. If you don't mind soldering and dealing with that PITA, you might be able to use a different year.

Summary of that link is any EJ series engine can be replaced with any other, mechanically anyway, electrically is a different story.
