That is nuts! I'm sure that OBD III will also report how much time you spent over the speed limit or any other slightly fun thing you might have tried to do with your car. I've got a feeling that if I ever get a car with OBD III, something will probably happen to the Wi-Fi antenna.

This is just an extension of vehicle inspections as another way for the state to make some money and pretend that they are keeping everyone safe.

I can't find the orginal source.. I read it a couple years ago but ala google:

http://lewrockwell.com/peters-e/peters-e144.html

I believe BMW is using it so the car can make an appointment for routine maintence with the dealership automaticly.

Edit:

When mine went on my WRX I found one on here for like $50 and did the same. So now I always have one at the house.

Not sure if you've read what all it entails to rebuild them, but it doesn't look fun. Its not so much the labor it's procuring the miscellaneous O-rings that's a beeeeotch.

If you have specific questions about WGDC you may want to get on COBB's forum, or here: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=140

Definitely search first and put your flame suit on.

What do you mean by "using the accessport for waste gate duty," exactly?

You definitely need to read up on "data logging" and get a few good pulls logged before you go into any of the tuning forums or they will rip into you, but will gladly help if you give them the right info to look over.

Well here's my question to you reason why I started asking questions is because when I start to build boost the car starts to jerk and hesitate is it safe to make the pulls I've been babying it until I figure out the issue?

I would try replacing the BCS first I have a brand new oem one laying around if you want to put it in for a test run.

I'm assuming you have a boost gauge, and you've checked for boost leaks.
Are you over boosting and hitting fuel cut?
Has anyone ever messed with your bcs? There is a pill in those lines that is essential for the system to work correctly.

I just replaced the bcs a couple of months ago and the restrictor pill is in the right spot and unfortunately my gauge just went haywire so I'm sending it back to prosport checked for boost leaks an still went through and replaced the older looking ones to be safe. I'm only building about 6 psi but then it struggles its ass off for any more than that. I appreciate the help man.

I had a problem simpler to this and all I did was swap it out with a MBC and used my gauge to tell be careful tho lol

Do not put in an MBC if you don't know what you are doing.

Anyone ever use an impact wrench on the rear differential drain plug? Mine are quite snug, and it is impossible to get any torque on it since it's sitting on my workbench.

I'd just have at it, but I'm pretty sure that the back piece is aluminum, and I don't want to crack it.

Stand on it and use a breaker bar and a pipe. <---FYI that is what I did. It was an R180 though.

Might be eaiser with two people.

I'm not a fan of using non impact sockets/drives in a gun.

The problem is that I have the rear end apart so the differential is just sitting on my workbench. There really isn't anywhere to grab it.

I figured that it would a lot easier to get the new oil in with nothing in the way, but I may be wrong.

I guess I could just pour out the old fluid and pour in the new stuff out the holes for the shafts?

Not my car, but I would use the impact if it's off the car. Spray some PB blaster on it first. I mean the drain plug is square.... It's not like you're going to round it off. Putting it back in though I would use hand tools.

I'm just worried about the impact cracking the aluminum cover. I've decided not to chance it and just pour everything out the hole for the rear shafts.

Hopefully I'll be able to just get a 6 speed when it's time to change the oil again 30k miles from now.
