Thank you sir! Blazing the way, now Canadian owners know what is up. I updated my thread over on wrxforums (formerly 3gwrx) to reflect the new info for Canadian 2011-12s.

Frequency Upper: 433.92

Legacy
FCC ID: CWTWBU766

It goes beyond frequency, there is encoding and whatnot going on there. On a 2008 Impreza the Legacy keys are not compatible but you can change that. You can folow my DIY to swap out your keyless unit for a Legacy version to use Legacy keys, then come back and follow this thread to make that Legacy key a flip key.

Looks easy thanks

As of right now i bought:
-Legacy key (Unsure what part number it is but has FCC: CWTWBU766 on the back of it)
-Legacy keyless unit part# 88035AG03A

So now everything will work?

Thanks again

Being and owner of a 2012 STI.. Could i just get the legacy key "57497AJ10A" and have the chip programed to my car? Then I can just get it laser cut for my application and use the chip and key remote module??

Got the housing today, came out GREAT.

The Subaru dealership parts center laser cut the key for me, on top of that, the guy who did the cut didn't charge me a thing because he thought the project was so cool.

Heres a couple of the results. Thanks again.

People continue to send me PM's. PLEASE send me an e-mail. I have to empty my PM's every week or two and it is way too hard to keep track of all the questions/people that ask questions about this. If you send me an e-mail you'll get a quicker response and I can look through our message history much more easily. Thanks!

I replied to your e-mail. The response went to alias333biker at yahoo dot com. Maybe you're checking the wrong account?

i received both the legacy key and the unit today. I tried to program them together and it didnt work. I even changed the battery but still no luck. I even triple checked all the numbers and they are an exact match.

after entering the 8 digit number the 2nd time, the car locked and unlocked so i assumed i did the process correctly. Am i missing something else?
