Some dealerships can laser cut keys...many have had it done on this thread.

They don't actually use a laser to cut the key. It's basically a small milling machine.

Exactly!! Best thing to do is to call around to dealers and ask if they can cut laser cut keys or not. If not, any dealer can order you a laser-cut key and have it there in about two days

Just did this and programmed the remote. Easy as pie. The razor cut through the valet key like a hot knife through butter. Now to get the blank key cut tomorrow and I'll be good to roll! Thanks again xluben!

Looks great! And yes, a straight razor cuts the rubber off very easily. I usually just go along the top edge about 50% of the way around and then I can get the transponder out without much trouble.

I programmed the keyless entry today.

Does anybody know which SF Bay Area Subaru dealership that can cut the key or which Bay Area locksmith can cut the key?
I checked with Stevens Creek Subaru & they said that they don't have the machine to do the cut.
I'm located in San Jose.
