xluben, can you please contact me (email, PM, FB)? I don't have enough "legitimate posts" to email you... nasioc has been great at having answers to all my questions and as a source for a ton of info, but I could use your help on this mod. I've been on here for 2 years and this is the first time I've had to post a question! Thanks!

Hey xluben,

I'm new to NASIOC, but I've been following this thread for a good month or so. Actually I became a member of NASIOC cause of this thread. I was wondering how the quality is on the flip key housing sold on eBay? I'm really interested in this mod and I would have emailed you about this but I'm new here and can't email. Can you send a pm?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure you're question but the process is identical to this write up. If you need any of the parts please email me.

Sorry, let me try to explain better. Will the legacy key work on the 13 sti? The key I'm referring to is the factory key that has the integrated buttons. I wanted to know.if.I can just swap complete keys.

Does the 2013 STI cone with an all in one key now? That would be news to me. Could you take a photo and send it to me?

I think what he is trying to ask is: can you use the Legacy all in one key instead of transplanting it into the switchblade.

My car finally arrived and I got the key cut earlier today. Put it together and headed out to the garage to program the remote. Felt like I was trying to get a grip of extra lives in some video game, but I finally got it done. Thanks again!

So mine came in the mail and I cant wait. Ive kind of done a dry run as my key isnt cut yet (need to go to the dealership tomorrow) and so I put everything together. I noticed that the keys will sink into the body unless I put some packing in behind it. Is that just because I havent screwed everything closed?

Also Ive never had a key cut before, can any dealer do it? Or just subaru? Any have any recommendations for one in northern seattle?

Thanks

Can you explain more about this? The blade should not "sink into the body", but I'm not 100% sure I even know what you mean by that.

Wow sorry that was very unclear. I was referring to the buttons from the legacy key. When I assemble it without screwing if together and press the buttons they push in and are no longer flush with the new fob. I'm not sure if they will not sink once I screw it together. Right now I've got packing inside the new fob so they don't hide when I press them. I haven't screwed it together yet because I imagine the dealer needs to cut the key when it's not assembled into the fob.

Hope that make more sense. I'll post some pics tomorrow if needed.

Ah, the buttons. They shouldn't move at all. The housing is a real tight fit. I would remove the packing you have in there and screw it together. The dealer should be able to cut it fully assembled. Just in case, don't install the jewel on the back. The screws can go in an out just fine as long as you don't overtighten them and strip out the housing, but the sticker is hard to remove without damaging it.

I got my switchblade fob in at the beginning on the week.
Now I just need to get it cut, and program the remote then slap it together.
I'm pretty excited, I think it looks really nice.

Haha yea the buttons that's what they are called. Silly me.

So I took out the padding and screwed the screws nearly all the way in and when I press the buttons they sink into the body and don't allow me to press.

Should I upload some pics? Maybe my legacy key buttons are messed

So I screwed it pretty tight but not all the way like so:

And then when I press the buttons to test it, they depress and disappear into the housing..

like:

Is it because I havent screwed the screws 100% in? I didnt because I thought if the buttons sink Ill want to unscrew and put padding in..

Thanks
