That's great! I hope you're able to find someone to cut that blade for you!

This was covered previously, but the basic story is that the remote will fit/work fine with the flip shell. BUT the new Impreza's have a non-laser cut blade in a style that I am not able to obtain blanks for (thin on both sides, not just one). So unless you can find a blank blade that fits into the housing, your only other option is to try and modify the OEM blade to fit. Here's what it looks like:

Hmm this is a neat feature. Anyway a flip key with working fob can made for my 03 WRX, I have the kind of bubble shape fob with only two buttons (Lock and Unlock)?

You would have to buy the flip shell and Legacy remote. The same process as the original post, but since you have a non-laser cut key you can just get a blank blade cut at any hardware store for a couple bucks. If you are in need of a source for the parts, please send me an e-mail.

Glad to see this is still going strong. I have had my flip blade for well over 6 months now and it is working perfectly. Has survived a few nasty drops too with no real harm done.

Got a few funny looks when I took it in for service.

Sorry to tell you, that key won't work with your car. You have an '11 Legacy key. The keyless unit for the 11+ cars does not swap to your 08. You need:

09 Legacy key, 05-09 Legacy keyless unit
OR
10 Legacy key, 10 Legacy keyless unit

Check my DIY for more info, and beware buying used keys, new is the only guarantee you get the right thing.

Yep, the Legacy remotes I supply are brand new OEM only. eBay isn't even worth the time.

i know it wont work with my '08 box, but the '11 legacy key will not work with an '11 sti keyless unit (transponder box?) from the first post it looks as if the that combo is compatible

The 11+ keyless unit is not compatible with your car.

If you decide to go the 09 Legacy route, I do have the 09 Legacy remotes. I don't have any of the keyless units for in the car though. You'll have to search one of those out on your own.

Why are the '11 units not compatible? From the first post it says the '11 legacy remotes are compatible with the '11 sti, what am I missing?

You're missing an '11 STi.
