That's good news. I wonder if you bought the same 2012 Impreza key that I did. They're probably sick of getting it returned. Haha.

FYI, the valet key "blank" is different, if you hold the valet and non-valet key up together, the tip is a different angle. That tip difference makes it so the valet key won't open the glove box even though the keys are cut the same.

I bought it (and returned it) from Hannassurplus on eBay...

And on a brighter note, I just got a call from the dealership. My car has arrived and I will be picking it up Friday morning!!!

Now all I need is the switchblade housing.

So for gd's all we need is the 09 legacy key? Can't we just cut they key and use the entire key & transponder? So we wouldn't have to hack up our old ones?

Will this work with the 2012 Sti key?
How do I make the internals fit and work?

Sigh, read the thread. yes it will work. It's all plug and play with the flip key xluben has. All you need to do is transfer internals and get the blank cut.

Guys, stop asking if xxx will work or if yyy will work. But a flip housing from xluben for $20. Then go buy a key blank from the dealership...or online, and swap ****. It is all VERY detailed here. If you are still confused, maybe you shouldn't be doing this mod.

i rather have one key than a keyfob and a key. flip key is nice but i see it breaking down the road like the earlier ones a few years ago..

Same with me. I have a flip housing but I like the compactness and lighter weight of the legacy key better

Was able to program my legacy remote today.
Also took apart my valet key and placed the transponder in one of the remote housings (I purchased two different styles.

Tomorrow I'll be taking the dremel/file to the key itself, so hopefully I'll have this done by saturday morning or so.

shortandangry: I just programmed my remote with that same exact Tag #. Did you try it yourself, or have a dealer do it?

Should work.... Try programming the remote yourself. Gotta make sure the transponder is in the key, too, to start the car.

Oh man, ultimate fail on my part. I was using the lock button on the remote, not the door to set the code. Got it, it works. I think range is even better with this one too!

If you want even more range, hold it up to your chin and press the remote!
