hey everyone im a first time gun owner.
i picked up the beretta 92fs 9mm it came with 2 clips and each hold 15 rounds plus 1 in the chamber. i got it at bass pro shop. this being my first gun and i know nothing about guns other then to treat every gun as loaded. while waiting for the back ground check i looked around for the 9mm ammunition and saw nothing so i asked the employ and they said theirs nothing they are out of stock. . so i chuckled a little and walked out the store with a gun with no ammo. i went to wal-mart and academy still nothing i was making my way back to a gun store i went to before i went to bass pro shop. i was lucky they had 4 boxes left so i got 2 and my friends got 2 for me. all this was about a month ago i been busy and haven't gotten around to buy more ammo and test out the new gun. I'm not planing on going to war or anything so should i just go to the gun range and shot so many bullets and hope i find more ammo at any gun shop and also hope the end of the world isn't next week? or just hold off and wait till i find more and how much![]() well anything i should be doing to help in the search for more 9mm ammunition edited part: i shot my uncle beretta 92 before i picked up the gun i didnt know he had a 92 until i saw him again. and have shot a shotgun before... also been thinking of buying a mossberg 500 or a remmington 870 shotgun which one should i buy?

I'm not going to address your direct questions, but you're going to need a few more rules of safety to keep your ass out of trouble. Three will usually keep you from hurting yourself or anyone else. If (EDIT:When) you fail at one, the other two may keep things from going too terribly wrong.
Three rules of gun safety from the NRA: http://www.lcsa.info/index.php?optio...162&Itemid=196 If you need more, here are the ten rules from the NSSF: http://www.nssf.org/safety/basics/ I admit to skirting #9 because I'm a tinkerer. If you've seen my car, you know why this was inevitable. Everyone should also read over the "holy crap, all the rules anyone has ever thought about for gun safety" list. http://darkwing.uoregon.edu/~joe/firearms-safety.html Also, they are magazines, not clips. I know they clip into place. I don't correct people IRL, but folks on the interwebz can get all bent out of shape about it. I wouldn't have even said this much before I owned a rifle with magazines and clips, but here is a thorough explanation of the differences between the two. Luckygunner.com, bulkammo.com, sgammo.com, or ammotogo.com for 9mm. But it's going to be hit and miss and more expensive than normal because it's in short supply.
And get the 870 if you're going for a shotgun. Clearly the 870. It's more expensive, but the quality is light years ahead of the 500. There's a good reason most police forces use 870s for their shotguns. EDIT: In regards to what Ripler stated, he's right. There are many more rules besides treating every gun like it is loaded. That's an important one, but the first is definitely to never point any gun at anything unless you want to shoot it. One I will add is you will hear a lot of guys, especially older former military guys at gun ranges, that tell you to always point your weapon up and down range. That's old school and no longer correct, because up and down range can change in a second. Point it in a safe direction, i.e. the ground away from yours or anyone else's feet. Be smart and you'll be fine. Don't do things like go polishing down your trigger to make it smoother unless you absolutely know what you're doing. Last edited by Spider Pig; 03-07-2013 at 01:20 AM. |

So y'all do use those web sites I notice yahoo said to use them but good to know real people use them too.
Yeah I know theirs more rules then the one I posted I just wanted to narrow it down. Since I'm new and out date I would like to thank you for posting the links and I'll be reading every word on the sites. Even though I don't think I said a clip or magazine I was wondering if I was saying it right in my head. So I'm guessing you don't call all dumby caps snap caps? |

Did they (sniper versions) have a bent bolt-arm? .. I imagine it could be done by a 'smith afterwards, just wondering is all. I have a regular ol' mosin.. nothing special... it's decently clean for it's age.. came with bayonette, tools, pouches, oil, and sling. Haven't dug much into the history of them, only know that the real sniper models are kind of rare. Mine was built at Izhevsk according to the stamps (apparently less desireable than the Tula ones, but oh wells). |

No - not a "real" sniper. It's a "real" mosin - a 1942 Tula numbers-matching M91/30. It has an accumount PU repro scope, dated 1942. The bolt is accurate to the sniper version - it was reworked by Bruce at maxshepherdboltproducts.com. The bolt looks amazing. It's a lot of fun to fire and I really like how it looks. I want to eventually put together a collection of WWII service rifles. |

I know im new but the topic isnt new but. I told my brother and my mom when ever they go to the store to see if they can pick me up a box of ammo and ill pay them plus 5$ for each box. Cause i know 9 times out of 10 they wont see any. Well my brother told his boss what i told him. His bos said he doesnt like people like me who are new to the guns cause we are scared and buying all the ammo we see. So he cant find any and the prices are going to go up cause of the demand. My brother also said their is no shortage in ammo supply cause they are easy to make and his boss gave my brother a few site for me to look up so i can buy some ammo.
I asked my brother well how much ammo does he have. My brother said well hes been in the gun game for a long time he could had gotten it all from the past years. He didnt know how much he had. I said if ammo can be made so easy then why is his boss complaing since he has the web sites. Is his way thinking is stupid or would you call him a hypocrite? |

He's just being a jackass. People like him buying up all the ammo because of "new people" like you are the reason there's a scarcity of certain calibers.
Ammunition isn't exactly "easy" to make considering how dangerous it can be, but considering that there were 12,000,000+ background checks run since Obama won reelection, that means more guns are out on the market and more ammunition is being purchased, so the volume of it available is going to be down. Again, his boss is an irrational dumbass. Everyone is buying more ammo because it's getting harder to find. And seriously, dude, paragraphs. Please. Last edited by Spider Pig; 03-12-2013 at 04:43 PM. Lol i was right sorry for my terrible grammer. As much as i wrote is as much as my phone would let me write in one post. So adding paragraphs I would had to write a shorter version or post two times. But thanks for thinking like me
