I scanned it in from an install sheet I got from crutchfield when I put in my aftermarket stereo. All the colors match up with teh OEM one too.

as for installing a stereo into a car.. go to a install shop and buy a wiring harness.. if u cut the wires you will regret it..
I work as a profesional installer and there is nothing like tring to fix someones mess up when they cut out the wire harness.. as for the 2002 wrx let me know if the one from the rs works.. this will help me much on future installs.. seeing that I have not received any information regaurding this car.. p.s. if anyone ever has a q.. just pm me or e-mail i will be glad to help |

Peaty - Which end of the harness are we looking at in that picture? Is that a rear view (so we're really small people hiding in the dashboard looking at the back of the stereo) or is that a view of Crutchfield's conversion harness?
I'm trying to align that scanned image with the info here http://www.northursalia.com/m...ing/radio.html and I'm having some trouble - I think your scanned image is opposite the pinout image at that site. Plus it appears the speaker polarities are all opposite, which is weird. Thanks, Pat Olsen '97 Legacy 2.5GT sedan |

Pat, the pinouts on my site are from the pin side, so they would be a mirror image of what Peaty has there, which shows the wire end.
Brian http://www.northursalia.com http://www.imprezamods.com http://www.scoobymods.com Conjunction Junction, what's your function? |

Arrrggghh!! The more I look at the scanned Crutchfield image and compare it to the pinout diagram at NU's site, the more confused I get. I think my car matches North Ursalia's pinout diagram because I just went out and put a multimeter on pin out 6 (with everything turned off) and got 13V. I guess the next thing to do is to check pinout 7 with the lights on and off to see what I get there.
Edit: Just went out and checked pinout 7. It varies from 209mv to 12V depending on what position the interior illumination dimmer is in, so that again confirms my car is wired like NU's. I've still got no clue what the extra 14th wire I have is for. It's not for the factory subwoofer (which my car does have) - that has a separate harness that taps into battery power, ground, and the rear + and - wires. *sigh* Pat Last edited by Patrick Olsen; 09-08-2001 at 06:54 PM. |

OK, my '97 Legacy is wired the same as North Ursalia's car, it is not like the Crutchfield diagram. Pinout 14 is the power antenna, so I'm all good now.

I checked my 01 w/ an 02 deck yesterday. It plugges in and worked fine. From the digramms, It appears that the only difference is polarity of the speakers, all of them are inverted. From what I've alreaded been told, polarity doesn't matter, as long as you have the speakers going in the same direction... so it's basically plug n' play.
