Default NVH or possibly worse?

Hi all,

Just went out for a 2nd test run on my swapped RS.. I'm having some rather rough noise on decelleration...

Car: EJ205 swapped, using an RS case, RA gears, was gone through by Oakos last gear, giving a clean bill of health (the trans) no hard driving really since, all the bolt on's including a VF22 (not that matters here really)

Background: finished installing a new SPEC 2+ on an Exedy LWFW, resurfaced properly (still over minium thickness as given by Exedy), fresh rear main seal installed.. 2 halfshafts replaced, one front, one rear..

Filled with Subaru Ultra-S (slight overfill)..

I have GN motor/trans mounts, kartboy pitchstop/front-rear shifter bushings, whiteline crossmember bushings, Perrin rear outrigger/diff bushings/lockdown ...

I ran all of this last year and the noise wasn't half as loud on decelleration..

I know not being in the car is difficult and videos aren't that much better, this stands out pretty good though...

My concern, besides the noise is, could this be pilot bearing possibly? It was new, along with the TOB..

Besides this the car drives well.. shifts good, doesn't bind or anything..

Thank you,
Aaron

Has the noise occured only after the install of the SPEC clutch or were other things changed at the same time?

I have not heard any good talk about SPEC clutches once they started getting around.

So, maybe the clutch install had an issue?
Are you sure you tightened everything down properly?

Yes, and yes, 2 halfshafts where also replaced AND today, first thing I find this...

Yes, the diff is CherryBlossom Red get over it now.. (not to mention the entire drivetrain)

I'm not sure about the SPEC either.. I'm kinda in a money crunch and it was the economic choice right now... last fall I tried an Exedy stock replacement, just not quite enough... was slipping in the top of 4-5th...

I performed the install, I do pretty good work, confirmed torque specs with 2 different torque wrenches (one an inch pound wrench for the 11ft/lbs of the PP) Had the FW properly resurfaced, coming up over minimum thickness (even after the 2nd cut, the first being a ****ty lathe cut)

I DID have a rather hard time this time getting the trans back IN... I'm concerned about the pilot bearing... IF the new halfshafts don't fix the issue, I'm GOING to have to pull the dam thing AGAIN and check...

Update:

After having ANOTHER halfshaft go out, I've got 3 new, non-reman halfshafts on the car...

I pulled the SPEC 2+ for an Exedy OEM and have ZERO noise...

I think I have less noise than I did last year when I had a DIFFERENT Exedy OEM in the car (the SPEC replaced the same clutch I just put IN, figure that out)

Found NEW SPEC pilot bearing leaking/oozing oil/grease... yay...

Only portion on the face that's not "moist"

Had the strangest singular hot spot I think I've ever seen...

Did you check the runout on the input shaft? If you don't have a dial just hold a long straight edge across the mounting flange on the tranny and verify the distance to the straight edge doesn't change as you rotate the shaft.
