Default Tow Horse Legacy

I want to pick up a Legacy Wagon, first gen, second gen or third gen, I just sold my 4runner for a great deal on an MR2, there was much about the 4runner I liked, but much I disliked, the gas milage, the handling...

I love the wagons, and I am thinking, with an EG33 H6, bigger brakes, transmission cooler and auto. and maybe a reinforced Class 3 hitch, pulling 4000 - 5000?

its not something I would want to do every day type of thing, I just want to be able to pull a car on a trailer when the time calls, for projects.

or maybe I just need to bite the bullet and get a huge SUV, since I think I would need the 3rd row seating..

You need Buick Roadmaster. 5000 lb. towing capacity, I believe.

Good luck, I don't know how the Legacy's frame would like 5000 lbs tugging at it, but I don't know really either way.

When I said I liked the wagons, I didnt mean american ones lol, Japanese, European.. they are sleek and have good handling.

and thats what I was wondering, if I were to have a tow hitch fabricated so it has multiple mount points than just stock and spreads the weight throughout the body, maybe connect it to the rear crossmember?

Better upgrade your brakes and keep some extra money for drivetrain failures.

I really doubt a Subaru could handle that kind of towing.

Hell, my wife's 08 Grand Cherokee isn't approved for more than 3500 lbs towing and it's a lot beefier than a Legacy.

FWIW, even if you do appropriate upgrades, if you get in an accident towing more than the vehicle is rated for, good luck with insurance.
