So was the pull done in 3rd gear or was the pull done with a trans brake involved. I don't see how a turbo can spool like a Dom 1.5 yet make 600+ hp.

I was thinking the same thing. That torque curve is sort of unbelievable.

The rpm was calculated in roller speed. The easiest way to understand it is by feel it will feel like the tq came in that early. Actual full boost is around 5500, but with the converter eating up the rpm, it will feel tht it boosted early. I was gonna change the print out so it shows speed on the bottom. It really doesnt change the numbers. Just the way one would read it.

Its a very cool build guys, congrats. You don't see many auto Subaru builds so the numbers are strange when you do see them especially with a transmission setup as extreme as this one.

Ronnie, I for one would love to see the graph posted both ways if you have time.

Thanks
Matt

If the trans-brake was involved there would be a violent launch of the car. No reason to do that on the dyno.

The spool is because of the fog-light mounting ( and a torque converter). This setup avoids many of the pitfalls of the normal Subaru big-turbo mounting. Granted, there are other issues that are sorted out, but the exhaust path is far superior. Haynie has a little magic in between...

Welcome to the club.
The funny thing is I think Dipp has been running this style forward facing setup for 4 years or something so, he should be welcoming everyone else to the club

I raced this car (with this setup different turbo tho)back in 2010 and it was only on low boost, 17psi or so. It's really fast and super loud. I was on the passenger side where the dump tubes and exhaust come out in front of the front tire and let me tell you as soon as it made boost, the wastegates opened and I never heard them shut until Dipp hit the brakes. He pulled on me too. I was running a 40r at 22 psi or so, that auto is a cold blooded killer.

If this was a manual dyno plot it'd change the game. Never the less, f'n sweet. 1999 is the best year Still got the r160?

Fobia was running the forward facing setup 2 years before me. Once I got tired of the 20G and 300HP I said lets make me one of them. It's been a project for the last 7 years or so every summer something bigger or better. Yes it still has the R160 and stock axles front and rear from FobiaWRX's first Subaru 03' WRX that I crashed LOL. It's been a while.
