Default Stock BCS clicking

Stock boost control solenoid is clicking at low rpms on my 95 wrx, isn't noticeably affecting boost. Anybody have this problem?

We all have it :-)

It's normal, it's just that usually you don't notice it.

Aftermarket ebcs is even louder. I made a custom bracket for my prodrive ebcs and mounted it roughly where the stock one is located and then i drove the car. Not expecting it to make a difference, i freaked out cus it sounds like knock at low rpms. I thought i ****ed myself... Couple days later, i read that the ebcs can make noises, so i took off the bracket and let it "sit" looses in the engine bay and the knock sound went away... Go figure

if you put the car in diagnostics mode (green and black connectors under the dash) and turn the key to on you can go under the hood to hear what it sounds like without the car running.

sounds like a starter relay under low battery.

Thing is I never had the clicking before, I thought it was knock too haha! I'll try the diagnostic mode and see if it clicks. Won't make a difference if I put a new BCS in? Thanks guys

You can clean and re-lubricate the factory ebc. It reduces the noise and makes for smoother operation.

I'll try that. Anyone have a DIY on how to clean it?

pull one of the vacuum lines and spray it some brake cleaner quick and easy way to do it without dismantling the thing.

1) Note where all boost controller vacuum lines go.
2) Remove all vacuum lines from boost controller.
3) Plug in under dash diag connectors (this will start the fans and the OEM boost controller will start clicking like crazy)
4) Spray brake cleaner through each of the ports until what comes out the other two ports is clean. (The solenoid will get louder)
5) Spray WD40 through each of the ports (the solenoid will get quieter)
6) turn off car, plug vacuum lines back in and unplug diag connectors
