Default swap car...not sure which engine

okay, so i bought the car (02 wrx) off of a guy who said it was a version 2 jdm ej207. the guy is full of it about most things so im trying to find out what it really is. from what he said the guy before him swapped it from a RHD bugeye. Where do i look on the motor to find info about it? im sure there is a code somewhere i just dont know where...any help would be great

on the motor look for the ingraving on the aluminum.

on the left head it has RHs20 on it, as well as japan...only stamping i see

There no chance it is a v2 207. The version 2 stis had the ej20k if I'm not mistaken. Sounds like this dude is full of it.

Edit: looks like it would be a ej20g if it was out of a V2 sti.

i know this guy IS full of it...i knew that going into buying the car haha. im just still digging to find out how full of it it is. i have no clue what the guy put in it

RHS20 heads are WRX style castings, does the motor have AVCS?

According to some threads on NASIOC, also Ver 6 STI casting mark. Since you said they guy is full of it anyway, I'm guessing you've just got a stock WRX engine in there.

i bought it cause its a vf39/20g hybrid and a lot of other things done to it, and i got a deal i just couldnt pass up. figured even if it is a usdm motor i still came out on top.
