That red light sounded like a bad connection or ground.
Sucks you're still burning oil.
Keep track of the rate.
Good luck man.

I am going to start documenting stuff better. I was told that Subaru might possibly help me get out of this car and into another one when I go to trade it in since there is an oil issue with my current car. The dealership said they have seen SOA kick in a few grand to help the customer out.

Well the light came on today on the way home from work, I was doing 80 miles per hour, and she was roaring at that point. And the light came on and has been since 5:00PM today. Back to the dealer in the morning. ;0( this sucks!

Why did you go to the dealer in the first place? Was it about the oil consumption??

That sux BTW. I can't believe now SOA is saying they will take your car off of some people and kick in a few grand....really.... 79 might be saved at last to get out of that oil trap of his.

That sucks.
At this point I'm getting really annoyed as its burning 3 quarts per oc interval, but soa demands that it burn 6++ before it warrants replacement.

If SOA gave me 4000 towards something else or gave me a new replacement car I would be happy. Those are the only ways I can see even bothering to buy another new sube.

The salesman I was speaking to said he has seen them do it before. Not often, but he has seen it. He said to just keep documenting stuff, and when I am ready to replace it come in and work a deal. At that point they will see if Subaru will kick anything in or not and if so how much. He said it would probably be a few grand.

I have actually been looking at BMWs. I am not a big fan of European cars, but would like to own atleast one BMW in my life. Looking at 2011 328i.

My interval has been less than 5k per change so far.
Due to testing and correcting dealer screw-ups.
The length of the interval isnt the issue. It burns the stuff at a rate of a quart per 2300 miles or less. Changing the interval doesnt change the rate of consumption.

You'll spend more in routine maintenance on that car than you would in topping off the oil on your Subie!

Apples and oranges...
Finding a worm in the apple makes oranges all the more appealing.
This is irrelevant, as I'm dealing with a lemon!

Yeah, I've gotten a bit gun shy of German cars myself.

Yeah, tell me about it. I was just on the TDIClub forum reading about several HPFP failures, as well as a couple of intercooler freezing situations.

My brother-in-law has a tdi golf and really likes it. He puts about 20k per year on it and hasn't had a single problem after 3 years. I was cross-shopping the tdi sportwagen before I got my imp but was really turned off by hpfp, intercooler, and vw USA hassle. I really like jap long term reliability.

Other than a hit in mpg's I cant find any real negatives with an R32.
They keep popping up in my used car searches. Tempting the former VW flag-waver in me...

If you're willing to take that MPG hit, then you should also consider a used WRX or STI, which would also provide awesome performance in an AWD car. But if you're specifically trying to jump the Subaru ship (much like I jumped the VW ship last June), then buy an R32 or a Focus ST with the Recaro seats you want.

Yep.
No Focus, But the Fiesta ST looks tempting.
After being a member on here for a while I dont think a WRX would do. The 08's have a bad rep, the 09's have problems with engines and turbos failing. And I always read about problems with even brand new Rexes.
The R32 apparently doesnt suffer from any consumption problems and runs on regular gas. I've always preferred NA to forced induction, too. So IF I get rid of it, yeah the R32 is a pretty sweet package.

Plus- VW never asked me not to return to their lot like the scumbag COWARDS over at Bill Bryan Subaru.
Part of wanting "out" of the subaru is that the only dealer is a LONG drive and I just dont think I should have to drive that far for warranty work. SOA shoulda sent a rep to Bill Bryan like they said they would.

I agree. This is why I think you should sell your Impreza and buy a car of a different brand. I know what it feels like to want out of everything having to do with a certain brand's products. Currently VW and Samsung products are on my personal s**t list.

If VW is your choice, then go for it (I never thought I'd see myself type that, but so be it). You'll never be happy with Subaru in the same way that I'll never be happy with VW. So sell the car and terminate your relationship. It's the only way.

If/ when I get rid of it I'd HAVE to switch brands. If I bought another Sube, it would be an old clapped out one with no allusions to warranties. Maybe one of the old Legacy Wagons that my Impreza is larger than...
